Bang! Boom!
Hayley’s armored truck tore across the median, smashing through several cars before crashing into the guardrail on the opposite side.
A few smaller cars went flying off the overpass as the armored truck’s front tires lifted over the barrier, the hood hanging halfway over the edge.
For a split second, she and Leonard were staring straight down from the elevated highway, the world tilting around them.
Dozens of feet below was open air–it was certain death if they slipped any further.
Good thing Hayley was one hell of a driver. A second later, and they would’ve been toast.
“Raaahhh!”
Another roar echoed through the chaos, followed by two more.
The armored truck shook violently, the road trembling beneath them like an earthquake.
The massive level–2 mutant zombie was coming at them again, its body of rotting flesh trembling as it charged forward.
Hayley caught sight of it on the monitor and narrowed her eyes. She grabbed a second steering handle and started flipping switches and levers across the glowing control board.

Boom!
A burst of fire roared out like a dragon, blasting straight at the mutant zombie.
A small cannon had risen from the top of her armored truck. The shot hit dead–on, knocking the creature back several yards. The explosion burned right through its chest, leaving a blackened hole in its flesh.
The air was filled with the sharp, smoky smell
charred meat.
Hayley didn’t waste a second. She slammed the gearshift and tried to reverse the truck off the barrier.
But the front tires just spun uselessly, stuck in place.
“Leonard! You know how to use the
Leonard, who had been watching her closely, nodded with a grim face. “Yeah, I got it!”
“Good. You drive–I’ll get out and lift the truck!”
Hayley unbuckled her:
and Leonard’s eyes went wide.
“Boss! I’ll go!”
“Out of the way! You’re not strong enough!”
Leonard blinked. Not strong enough? Did she seriously think she could lift the damn thing? That truck had to weigh several tons!

Before he could say anything else, the ground started rumbling again. The sensors lit up the mutant zombie was coming back.
Leonard gritted his teeth, jumped into the driver’s seat, and copied Hayley’s earlier moves.
This truck was top–of–the–line, probably military–grade, with all sorts of weapons systems
Luckily, he’d been a special forces soldier. He was used to handling weapons and vehicles like this. Watching her once had been enough.
Boom!
Another stream of fire shot from the cannon, hitting the zombie square in the chest again. Flames wrapped around its body, forcing it back.
Leonard fired again and again, covering Hayley as she jumped down to the road.
He was secretly worried. She said she was going to lift the truck. He believed there was no way she could actually do it.
Right then, the truck moved.
Leonard froze, staring in disbelief as Hayley, wearing her combat gear, crouched beside the truck and pushed up one side.
With a deep grunt and a burst of strength, she lifted it–actually lifted the damn thing and slammed the front tires back onto the pavement.
