Chapter 772

Chapter 772

Right now, a wide boulevard stretched out in front of Hayley.

Several car crashes had piled up along the lanes, cars sitting at odd angles under thick layers of dust. A few zombies wandered

between them, scattered and slow.

Near the curb stood a bus stop sign. Just ahead of it, a city bus idled with its doors franging open.

There wasn’t a single passenger inside.

Only the driver remained, already turned. It was trapped in the seat behind the wheel, thrashing and growling as it struggled against the narrow space.

“Raarh… Raarh…”

Hayley walked up to the bus without slowing. The moment the zombie driver noticed her, it went feral. Its arms jerked wildly, neck craning forward as it slammed its head over and over into the fare box.

Thud. Thud. Thud!

Each impact landed harder than the last. As she got closer, it threw itself into it with even more force, smashing its own face

apart, until its bulging eyes popped free.

The two soft, swollen eyeballs slapped against the fare box with a wet sound, only to be crushed a second later by the force of its

own skull.

Gray-white pulp streaked with blood smeared across the slot, and a slick strand of fluid slid cleanly into the narrow opening.

The mechanism clicked.

With a dull drop, the ruined eyeball fell into the coin container, landing among a pile of metal change.

“Raarh! Raarh!”

Blind now, the zombie still howled toward her, driven by nothing but hunger. If it could, it would’ve torn her apart on the spor

and stuffed every piece of her into its starving gut. 1

“Raarh!”

Hayley swept a cold gaze over the bus. Taking advantage of the thinning zombies and the fact that everything was still in motion, she kicked the fuel tank open.

She pulled out a timer and rigged a crude ignition device using a simple lever.

Just as the surrounding zombies began to close in, she grabbed Griffin’s hand and sprinted toward a bus terminal about 500 yards ahead.

“Raarh!”

“Raarh! Raarh! Raarh!”

By the time the scattered zombies reached where Hayley had been standing, she was already far gone.

Now, standing at the entrance of the terminal, she glanced inside and saw the place packed wall to wall with zombies.

“Griffin, open all the doors,” she said.

Griffin carried out the order without a single question, moving from one entrance to another, throwing each door With his half-zombie constitution, the dense crowd inside barely reacted to ham, as it he didn’t exist.

Hearing the doors creak open, they all turned blankly toward the sound

But when they pushed closer and caught no scent of food, their eyes dulled again, and they resumed wandering aimlessly through the hall.

Once Griffin had opened every door on the first floor, a thunderous boom erupted.

The terminal they had just been at exploded. A towering blast of fire and the deafening shockwave sent every zombie within several miles into a frenzy.

The ones inside the terminal let out a collective howl and surged toward the source of the explosion like a stampede.

At that moment, Hayley was perched atop a streetlight. 1

A few zombies lingered below her, but the explosion was far too loud. Waves upon waves of zombies were drawn toward it, rushing off in droves.

Only a handful remained gathered beneath the pole.

Watching as most of the terminal emptied out, Hayley slid down the pole.
