Chapter 780
“Don’t worry, you two,” June said, thumping her chest with confidence. “I saved you, so I’ll look out for you. You just got lucky running into our ace squad.”
Zach’s gaze settled on Hayley and Griffin, “Yeah. As long as you’re with us, we’ve all got your backs.”
William chimed in right after, grinning. “Holly, with us around, you’ll be just fine.”
Fiona didn’t say anything. She only glanced at them.
Spencer, on the other hand, gave Hayley a small nod, rare for him. It seemed like he agreed.
They were completely confident in their strength.
Faced with that kind of open enthusiasm, Hayley answered politely, “Alright, then. Thanks.”
“No need to be polite. Let’s figure out tomorrow’s route,” June said. “Fiona’s family is to the north, and the place you’re going is to the south. The south side’s closer, so how about we go to your place first, then head to Fiona’s? That way, we loop back in a
triangle.”
The moment she said that, Fiona stood up. Her expression tightened. She turned and walked deeper into the hall.
June, straightforward as ever, didn’t notice a thing about Fiona’s mood.
Fiona had been part of the team for a long time. Now a newcomer showed up, and June immediately wanted to change the plan to go somewhere else first.
Of course, she wasn’t happy.
Fiona walked off without another word.
“Hey! Fiona! What’s wrong? Where are you going? Do you agree with the plan or not?” June stared after her, confused.
Zach said on the side, “Fiona’s upset.”
“Why?”
“Why do you think?”
June frowned, replaying everything in her head. “I didn’t do anything to her.”
No one knew what to say.
Zach shook his head and stood up. “Why didn’t you suggest going to her place first?”
“Because hers is farther,” June said, matter-of-fact. “We go to the closer one first, then the farther one. Isn’t that better? With this route, it’s safer, too. If there are too many zombies outside, we can just turn back and skip it. Otherwise, we might not make it to either place.”
Again, no one had anything to say.
There was nothing wrong with her logic. Except… She was way too blunt.
“Sometimes, I wonder if you were born the wrong gender,” Zach said with a sigh as he went after Fiona. “You don’t get women
at all.”
“What does that even mean?” June frowned.
William stood up, too. “It means you hurt Fiona’s feelings, and you didn’t even realize it.”
“I hurt her? When did I do that?” June looked completely lost.

“Why’d you put her place last?” William said plainly.
June froze.
