A flaming arrow shot forward streaking straight toward the zombie child.

The kid was a speed-enhanced zombie, fast and unnervingly agile.

June’s first arrow missed. Then another. And another.

Her nerves were shot. She had no idea what happened to Zach, and the thought of it made her hands shake uncontrollably.

By the time she let loose another arrow and missed again, the zombie child had already closed to within six feet.

“Raarh!”

It sprang into the air, lunging straight at them.

Right then, a sharpened blade spun through the air and struck the zombie child square in the forehead, shattering the crystal core lodged inside its skull.

It came from Spencer behind them.

June caught his gaze, and somehow forced herself to steady her breathing. She grabbed another flaming arrow and turned to

fire at the zombies surging up from behind.

But there were more.

And more.

A dense, black mass of zombies poured out from the direction of the station, an endless flood.

What did ten thousand zombies look like?

Like there wasn’t a single place left to step.

June’s arrows carved a path at first, but the sheer density of the horde crushed that opening in seconds. Several zombies broke through her line, and Spencer, stuck without any special abilities, kept throwing blades to help, but even that couldn’t hold

them back.

Then, a long blade flashed.

A sharp metallic ring cut through the chaos.

With a single swing, the zombies in front of them dropped.

June and Spencer both stared at Hayley in shock.
