Chapter 785
Even Kurt’s dog looked at Hayley and barked twice, tail wagging like it had just found its alpha.
On both sides of the street, surveillance cameras captured everything, transmitting the scene across the world into a distant
conference room.
A group of people sat there, eyes locked on the screen, staring at the towering blaze. The fire burned so bright that it outshone the sun hanging in the sky.
“I told you. This test subject is interesting.”
The man with the letters SS level clearance spoke with clear satisfaction.
Hayley led the group all the way back to the train station plaza. Huge waves of zombies poured out from the underground mall, flooding upward in thick, endless streams.
After blasting open a path with her fire, Hayley didn’t slow down. “You guys get to the car. Start it up.”
“Got it,” Spencer said.
“Griffin, get the old man and his dog out of here.”
“Got it, Captain Gorgeous,” Griffin replied lazily, already pushing the old man toward the station entrance.
June didn’t move. “Hayley, please! Zach’s still alive! You have to save him!”
“Do you have his location?”
“I do!” June nodded hard, pulling out a tracker. “He’s down there. Please, you’ve got to help him!”
“Let’s go.”
Hayley snatched the tracker and sprinted toward the underground level.
June and Zach had helped her before. She wasn’t leaving him behind.
With a flick of her hand, an invisible air barrier surged outward, shoving the surrounding zombies back and sealing them off.
June followed close behind, completely stunned as she watched it happen.
Another gift!
Just how many did Hayley have?
How was she this powerful?
June had always thought of herself as an elite, a top-tier fighter. With two abilities after the apocalypse, she had felt unstoppable, as if she could go anywhere and beat anyone.
But now, she realized her strength didn’t even come close to Hayley’s.
June was too shocked to even speak. She just ran after Hayley, rushing straight into the underground mall.
The place was dim, suffocating, and filled with zombies. The stench of rot slammed into them the second they entered Hallways, storefronts, open shelves with no barriers, every inch crawled with the undead.
A woman’s scream cut through the darkness.
“That’s Fiona! She’s up ahead!” June’s voice tightened with panic.
The next second, she and Hayley broke into a sprint.

Inside a nall salon, three people had backed themselves into the far corner behind the checkout counter, shoving cabinets in front of them as a barricade against the crushing mass of zombies outside.
“Raarh!”
Bang!
The zombie at the very front clawed the cabinet door open in one swipe, then shoved its arm inside, reaching desperately. Its sharp, jagged nails scraped wildly against the back panel, each strike gouging deep marks as splinters flew.
Wood shards jabbed into the gaps between its nails and flesh, but the zombie didn’t react at all.
Behind the barricade, the three people bracing it could feel the pressure building, as if the whole thing was about to collapse at
any second.
Their hearts were in their throats.
It felt like those claws were already scratching at their scalps, ready to punch through flesh and bone at any moment.
