The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 801

As Jeff spoke, he shrugged ofthis coat and tossed it onto the rack in front of him.

He didn’t spare Hayley a single glance as he walked past, as if she were just another coat stand sitting there.

Got it. I’ll make sure everything’s handled

How’s Scum doing today?

He hasn’t come out. Still in his office,

Hayley stood off to the side, flipping through the manager’s journal while listening in

The page in front of her read:

[Turns out she’s a real beauty, I would’ve loved to keep her around for some fun But then that idiot from District Two came in waving some notice, saying she was someone higherups wanted. Damn busybody. He’s just showing off that he got direct orders. He’s not even a general manager, so what’s he acting like that for?

[Such a waste. They took that beauty away in the end, I barely even got to touch her hand once. Would’ve been nice to spend a little more time with her.

[Oh, right. There’s a new guy coming in this time. No idea what he’s like yet. I’ll have someone send him a gift later, see if he’s easy to work with. Maybe he can help me find a few pretty women on the outside.]

That was all the entry said. The rest went right back to complaining about Scott.

Hayley’s gaze lingered on the order from the District Two manager.

So District Two had received direct instructions from above about Ruby.

Just then, Jeff spoke again. Did you hide that batch of stolen goods?

Yeah, it’s all taken care of. I bribed a guard to mess with the surveillance. The shipment is stashed under their security booth. Once everything’s moved out, we’ll catch them redhanded.

Scum’s the head of security. If his people are stealing, he can’t dodge responsibility. This time, we went all in. We got way more than what he reported on you last time. This’ll be enough to bury him.

Good. Keep watching. The moment the shipment clears, we make our move.

Yes, sir.

The team lead stood up and headed for the door.

Hayley calmly closed the journal and placed it back on the desk right in front of Jeff, then followed the team lead out. She cast a cold glance back at Jeff, who picked up his work diary again and started writing in it.

How dare that greasy old man lay a hand on her aunt

Hayley swore he would pay for that!

Timing it perfectly, Hayley slipped out of District One’s workshop.

Today’s main operation was unloading goods from District One. She had wanted to take advantage of the moment and sneak into District Two to find that document, but District Two had already finished unloading. Its gates were sealed shut.

So she let it go for now.

Instead, her eyes tracked the team lead who had stepped out to stir things up.

Hayley turned and strode straight toward the security booth.

She moved through the place as if she belonged there. Surrounded by guards, she blended in even better, slipping past them without a single person paying attention to what she was doing.
