The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 808

Chapter 808

Hayley moved with the group and stepped into Harrison’s office.

Unlike the greasy, leering Jeff back in District One, Harrison ran a tight strip. Everything about his office felt controlled and

precise.

There was even a keypad lock on the door.

Blending in with the guards, Hayley drifted toward the front and stopped just behind Harrison. She watched as he tapped in the sixdigit code, his fingers clicking through the first four numbers. Then he suddenly turned his head.

His eyes landed on her.

After three seconds, he turned back and keyed in the last two digits. A soft beep sounded, and the door unlocked.

Inside, the office was spotless. Everything was arranged with almost obsessive brder.

After ushering everyone in, Harrison immediately started laying down instructions.

Stay sharp, especially right now. I don’t want any trouble.

Yes, sir!

Step up security. Everyone in and out gets verified.

Yes, sir!

No unnecessary contact with the outside.

Yes, sir!

Right then, his computer chimed with a new email.

He glanced at the screen, his brows tightening. All of you, with me.

The guards quickly fell into formation and filed out under his lead.

Hayley stayed at the very back.

Just as she reached the doorway, she slipped aside and vanished back into the room.

The secondtolast guard glanced over his shoulder, but he didn’t notice anyone missing.

Hayley waited until their footsteps faded completely, then turned her attention to the stacks of documents covering the office.

This time, she didn’t hesitate.

With experience on her side, she went straight for the files sorted by date.

Harrison was meticulous. Everything was organized either by timeline or progress codes.

It didn’t take long for Hayley to find the records from the day Ruby had been taken, but they were all production reports from that day. Every single one had already been reviewed and signed off by Harrison.

And of course, a man like him didn’t keep a diary.

Hayley’s gaze shifted to his computer.

He hadn’t shut it down, just left it in sleep mode.

Her eyes locked onto the mouse. She took a moment to memorize its exact position on the desk, using nearby objects as reference points. Only then did she pull on a pair of gloves and gently move it.

The screen lit up.

Hayley’s eyes widened slightly at the flood of emails covering the desktop. Every single one was sent to the same recipient: headquarters.

A spark of excitement flashed through her. That had to be the Sovereign Academy’s main base!

She scrolled quickly, moving back through the dates until she reached a few days before Ruby was taken.

One email stood out.

She opened it.

[Take custody of the Slevel hostage and ensure their safety. No unauthorized contact is permitted. Custody shall remain in effect until November 12, after which responsibility will be transferred to another party.]

Hayley’s heart slammed hard against her chest.

Custody until November 12. Today was November 9.

That meant Ruby was still on this island!

And she wouldn’t be moved for another three days.
