Chapter 851
“Aunt Ruby!”
“Cough…cough…” Ruby slowly opened her eyes. She looked at the person in front of her and whispered, “Holly…”
“Hey.” Hayley’s eyes lit up the second she saw that Ruby was awake. “How are you feeling?”
“It feels like I had a really long dream… Where are we?”
“We’re home. We made it back.” Hayley held her hand tightly. “How’s your body? Does anything still hurt?”
Ruby shook her head, her brows drawn together. She still looked weak and out of it.
“Let her rest. She needs it right now.” Kurt’s cool, distant voice cut in from the side.
Hayley turned to him. “So she’s really okay?”
“She’ll be fine after some sleep.”
Only then did Hayley finally let out a breath. She looked at Ruby, still fragile, and pulled the blanket up over her.” Get some rest, Aunt Ruby. Don’t think about anything. You’re home. No one’s ever gonna hurt you again.”
Under Hayley’s soft voice, Ruby’s tense expression slowly eased. She closed her eyes, finally at peace.
Once she was asleep, Hayley stood up carefully. She glanced at the dogs in the room and signaled for them to stay and keep watch.
Then she shot Kurt a look, gesturing for him to follow her outside.
Kurt directed his dog to pull his wheelchair toward the door.
Outside, Leonard, Thomas, Robert, and Griffin were all standing guard. The moment they saw Hayley step out, their eyes lit up.
Leonard spoke first. “How is she?”
“She’s awake.”
Everyone visibly relaxed at that.
Hayley didn’t say anything else to them. She led Kurt to the small pavilion outside her shelter.
“That thing you mentioned earlier, the Sovereign Legion evolution serum. What is it?”
“I’m tired. I’m going back.”
“Woof, woof!” Kurt’s dog barked along with him.
It wasn’t aggressive. It just wanted to play with Hayley.
Hayley glanced at the excited dog and casually tossed it a big, meaty bone. “Here. Go eat.”
The dog’s tail wagged like crazy. It circled the bone, excited, but didn’t touch it. Instead, it pawed at Kurt’s wheelchair.
Kurt sighed. “Go on. Eat.”
The dog let out a small whine, then dashed over and started crunching on the bone.

Hayley looked back at Kurt. “Not so tired now, right? Tell me what I want to know, and I’ll make sure your dog gets good meat and bones every day.”
“You little brat. You’ve got a hundred tricks up your sleeve.” Kurt shot her an annoyed look.
“Just trying to survive out here.” Hayley grinned. She took out Serum X again. “So what is this, really?”
