[Build a Super Signal Tower. Reward: Global GPS Satellite System!]
The system notification faded, and Alex’s voice followed right after.

“Right now, we can only send and receive shortwave signals. The range is limited. If we want to contact the outside world, we have to build a super signal tower. It’s just a shame the global GPS network is down. If we could restore GPS, we’d be able to reach anywhere on the planet.”
Hayley smiled faintly. “Don’t worry about that. Just get the tower built for me first.”
Once it was up, the GPS system would be hers anyway.
“Got it, Boss.” Alex stood and immediately turned to make arrangements.
“Don’t forget,” Hayley added, “you still owe me nine reports.”
Alex paused. “Got it.”
Hayley had Leonard drive him back to the city.
As for her, she planned to stay at her shelter for a few days and finally get some real rest.
The road ahead was full of unknowns, but for now, she just needed to live each day well.
That night, Ruby woke up. When she came to, she had no memory of being taken. It all felt like a long, distant dream.
Seeing her like that, Hayley felt a quiet sense of relief.
It was better this way. The memories of what happened at Sovereign Industries were better forgotten.
Hayley stayed at the shelter with Ruby for several days. Once Ruby had mostly recovered, she started insisting on going back to her research.
That reminded Hayley of the Serum X she still had.
Kurt had been vague about it. Even back at Sovereign Industries, the whole thing felt shrouded in mystery.
It was the perfect chance to let Ruby study it.
“Aunt Ruby, take a look at this for a while.”
“What is it?”
$”I’m not sure. Just be careful. Tell me anything you find.”
“Alright.” Ruby agreed without hesitation.
The next day, Hayley drove her back to the city.
The city hadn’t changed much during this time.
To guard against retaliation from the Ascendant Creed, Hayley had previously relocated a large portion of the population to three Ark bases,
Aecraton’s growth had slowed, but the three Ark bases were thriving.

They already had strong foundations, and now their development was quickly catching up to Aecraton itself.
Hayley was satisfied with that.
Those three Ark bases were her branches. If anything went wrong along the eastern coast, she could retreat inland at any time.
They were like extensions of herself. The stronger they became, the stronger she became.
“Thomas. Starting today, you’re with Aunt Ruby. Keep her safe.”
After dropping Ruby off at her lab, Hayley turned to Thomas.
