The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 855

Chapter 855

When Alex saw the flood of overseas signals pouring in, he froze. “Holy… Is our tower really this strong? We’re pulling in this much from overseas?”

He had figured covering the entire country would already be impressive. He hadn’t expected anything like this! The performance felt on par with a global GPS network.

Was it really that powerful?

“Maybe we just got lucky. We might be the only ones left with a working signal.” Hayley smiled, clearly satisfied as she looked at the newly built super signal tower.

From now on, she could reach more bases, more survivors.

As the incoming data stacked up like a tidal wave, she had Hayz organize everything and send it to Alex for sorting and documentation.

A day later, a detailed report landed on her desk.

Aside from Haylight League, there were only 289 bases left in the world.

The idea of nations was completely gone. Many smaller countries hadn’t even managed to preserve a single surviving base.

The old megacities had all fallen. Not one had survived. Not a single living soul remained in them. 1

The ones who made it through had relied on geography and luck. Over time, the survivors had long abandoned national and racial identities. In this new age of base civilizations, the only thing that mattered was your base.

People stuck together, struggling to survive in a world overrun with zombies.

Of course, there were also groups who had completely gone off the grid.

They lived in isolation, surviving in remote areas far from both zombies and other people, some without even a single communication device.

Hayley didn’t bother trying to track those down. base that could receive their signal.

The one that came through the most was from the small base on an island in the Westreach Ocean, led by Tavian.

“Hayley, you finally got back in touch! The second I picked up your signal, I knew you made it home safe. Thank God. How’s my sleeping beauty doing?”

Hearing Tavian’s voice, Hayley remembered he had asked her to confess his feelings to Ruby for him. After listening to his message, she looked up and saw Liam standing in front of her, waiting.

Hayley set down the communicator and smiled at him. “What’s up?”

“Nothing serious. My grandpa wanted to invite you and your aunt over for dinner,” Liam said.

It had been a long time since he had shared a meal with Hayley. After Ruby woke up, he had wanted to visit. Hayley turned him down, though, saying it wasn’t a good time to disturb her.

He had always been respectful. If Hayley said no, he wouldn’t push.

Now that the signal tower was finished, it finally looked like she had some time. He waited outside her office unti she was done, just for the chance to see her and ask her out to dinner.

“Sounds good. I’ll go pick up Aunt Ruby first,” Hayley said with a nod.
