Chapter 863

The moment the young woman stepped out, every eye turned toward her.

Up on the northwest wall, the exhausted female soldier forced herself up from the ground. Limping, she made her way toward

them step by step.

“I’m Maisie Willis, deputy director of West Sea Base. And you are…?”

Hayley’s gaze settled on her. “Hayley Reid of Haylight League.”

The name hit like a spark. Everyone around them lit up instantly.

Haylight League.

She was the leader they had only heard about in stories.

Ten minutes later, Hayley followed Maisie into the central area of the base.

West Sea Base was much smaller than Clark Base. Clark Base had over 8,000 people, while West Sea Base had just over 2,000.

Still, that counted as a mid-sized base.

Especially considering its location.

They were out in the middle of open plains, surrounded on all sides by zombies. There were no mountains, no natural barriers,

and nowhere to fali back to.

Building a base for 2,000 people in a place like this wasn’t easy.

After getting a basic understanding of their situation, Hayley found herself impressed, especially with the woman in front of her.

She hadn’t met many female leaders. Even as a deputy director, Maisie stood out.

“I didn’t expect you to be this young, Ms. Reid,” Maisie said.

While Hayley was sizing her up, Maisie was doing the same.

“You don’t look that old yourself,” Hayley replied.

“I’m already in my thirties, Ms. Reid. Still older than you.”

Maisie gave a small smile. It looked like she didn’t smile often; the movement felt a little stiff, like her face wasn’t used to it.

“Age is just a number. By the way, you can call me Hayley or Holly, whatever you prefer.” Hayley never cared much about titles.

As long as she didn’t dislike someone, they could call her anything.

“I’ll stick with Ms. Reid.” Maisie shook her head, her expression returning to its usual calin reserve.

At that moment, one of her people.ushed in.

“Maisie, the zombie wave outside has cleared!”

Maisie finally let out a breath she had been holding.

The crisis was over.

“Ms. Reid, thank you for everything you did today Seriously.” She turned to Hayley, her voice full of sincerity. “And for the supplies you sent before. Everyone in our base is grateful.”

“It’s nothing.” Hayley waved it off “Where’s your base director right now?”

“Ata test site about six miles out.” Maisie’s expression turned serious.

Ten minutes later, Hayley had the full picture.
