The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 865

Chapter 865

When Maisie heard Hayley’s terms, she froze for a split second.

All the crystal cores in their base..

A trace of hesitation crossed her otherwise composed face, but it vanished just as quickly.

“I agree.”

One hour later, several large crates of crystal cores were delivered.

Like many places, they used crystal cores to produce evolution serums. The extraction process itself wasn’t complicated With the right equipment and a few skilled technicians, it could be done.

The real challenge was removing impurities.

Because of that, their production was limited. The yield was low, the loss was high, and the serum still contained a lot of impurities. Most of their Gifted only reached level 2 or 3.

They weren’t even on par with how Scott and the others used to consume raw cores.

Over the years, they had accumulated more cores than they could use. A rough estimate put it at over 30 thousand.

Hayley had Griffin store all of them in his inventory. That would count as the upfront payment. 3

The real reward would be the components later.

“When do we head out?” Maisie asked.

“Can you tell if your husband’s still alive?” Hayley asked.

Maisie nodded and took out a communicator. “He is. They’re hiding in a sealed room

A blinking red dot glowed on the screen.

Hayley glanced at it. “Then we’ll go tomorrow.”

If he wasn’t dead, it could wait until morning.

If he was, all the more reason to wait until morning.

She wasn’t heading out in the middle of the night.

Maisie watched as Hayley calmly collected the payment and prepared to rest. A flicker of urgency crossed her face.

Josh had been trapped for two days.

Every minute mattered.

But…

“Alright. I’ll arrange dinner and lodging for you.”

Maisie clenched her fists and forced herself to stay composed.

Hayley and her team stayed at West Sea Base.

fo show her gratitude, Maisie prepared a generous dinner for them. Some of the supplies even came from what Hayley had previously provided.

Hayley didn’t hold back. She and her tearn ate their fill without hesitation.

The calmer Hayley acted, the more anxious Maisie became. Still, she forced herself to stay steady. She stayed with them while continuing to handle base affairs.

After the siege, the casualty reports came in.

Maisie moved nonstop, dealing with the fallen, organizing repairs for the damaged walls and buildings, and getting production

back on track.

Weapons had to be replenished, supplies restocked. Every decision fell on her shoulders.

She worked late into the night. Only after she finished the last task did the tension in her face ease slightly.

Even so, her brows were still tightly drawn.
