Chapter 876

Right now, Hayley needed to get a clear read on their position and the situation.

They were trapped in the underground storage. A mass of zombies was jammed in the middle of the passage.

That blockage wouldn’t hold forever. More zombies were still pushing in from outside. Sooner or later, they would break through.

Which meant they had to dig their way out before that happened.

If they were going to dig, they needed to figure out where to do it.

“Boss! We found something!”

Derek: ran over, excitement clear in his voice.

“We found another tunnel, but it’s blocked.”

Hayley’s eyes lit up.

Of course! This place had originally been a shelter; there was no way it had only one exit.

She followed Derek at a quick pace. The second tunnel entrance was straight ahead along the main corridor. Right now, it was completely sealed.

If she was right, the tunnel had been dug before and then filled in later.

“We dig here.”

The moment she said it, Leonard and the others pulled out their entrenching shovels and got to work. They had barely dug half a yard when Hayley spotted a section of wall with a different texture from the surrounding packed dirt.

That confirmed it.

“This is the spot. Move faster.”

“Okay!”

Everyone joined in.

Except Ethan, who was nursing his shoulder and had been sent back to watch the main passage.

Even Griffin got pulled into the digging.

Watching their progress, Hayley turned to Josh and his group. “You too. Get over here and dig.”

They froze, caught off guard.

Hayley tossed a pile of shovels from her inventory at their feet.

Colin moved first. He grabbed one without hesitation and started digging, not even waiting for an order.

The rest looked to Josh.

Josh met Hayley’s gaze, then said, “Do it.”

He wasn’t stupid. He knew that if they wanted to get out, they had to follow her lead.

The others quickly grabbed tools and joined in.

Leah, meanwhile, spoke up softly, her voice fragile. “Josh… I’m hurt. My back really hurts.”

“Then stay off to the side and rest…”

Josh had barely finished speaking when Hayley cut in, blunt and cold as ever. She had never been the type to cut anyone any

slack.

“You can rest when you’re dead.” She walked over. “If you’re still breathing, you’re working.”

Josh’s expression darkened. “She’s seriously hurt. There’s no need to push her.”

“Why not?” Hayley pressed. “Because she cries? Because she plays helpless? Because she goes after other people’s men?”
