Chapter 881
“You’ve got some nerve. Your wife spent years quietly giving everything for you, sacrificing everything she had, and this is who you turn out to be? If I’d known you were this disgusting, I wouldn’t have come to save you no matter how much she begged!” Hayley spat.
Josh staggered, chest throbbing from the kick. He clutched it, eyes locked on Hayley as she held Leah by the throat, his gaze burning red.
Hayley’s expression only grew colder upon that sight. She kagged Leah, bruised and battered, step by step toward him.
“What, you pissed?”
Josh bit down on his lip and said nothing, but the fury in his eyes had reached its peak.
Hayley looked at him, completely unrepentant.
“Sure, being shameless like you won’t get you killed. And now that it’s the apocalypse, there aren’t exactly laws or moral rules holding anyone back. But if you do something disgusting, you’d better be ready to carry the label that comes with it.
“She’s the one who barged into someone else’s relationship, and you’re the cheating piece of trash who betrayed your wife. That’s just the truth. Yeah, we’re outsiders, and we aren’t in a position to judge, but if you’ve got the guts to do it, then we’ve got the right to call it out.
“If you’re a man, then take it! You made your choice. Don’t act like you’re innocent after the fact.”
As Josh listened, the anger burning in his eyes slowly dimmed, as if it was being ground down under her words.
He stared at Hayley. “I’ll…talk to Maisie when we get back.”
“That’s your problem.” Hayley rolled her eyes, then shoved Leah back toward him. “Don’t come near us again. Try us again, and I’ll dump you both here. You’ll have no one to blame but yourselves.”
She didn’t spare the two of them another glance.
Right then, a sudden commotion broke out.
Crash!
A pile of zombie remains slid down from the entrance. There were heads, arms, chunks of legs…
The blockage at the tunnel entrance had loosened.
“Raaah!”
The growls and pounding rush of zombies surged back to life.
The jammed mass broke free like a clogged drain, finally giving way. The zombies began charging through the tunnel lined with
steel cables once more.
Several of the cables snapped under the pressure. The horde pushed all the way to the last third of the tunnel
Hayley saw it and instantly teleported forward.
“Keep digging!” she shouted over her shoulder.
Everyone moved at once.
Those who hadn’t even finished eating tossed their food aside, grabbed shovels, and rushed to dig. Griffin and even the injured Ethan ran over to help.
Hayley stayed alone at the tunnel entrance.

She had to hold this line.
Her eyes flicked over the rows of steel cables, and she knew they wouldn’t last more than 30 minutes.
At the current pace, the others still needed at least two to three hours.
She had to buy that time.
Hayley pulled out a stack of steel plates from her inventory and sealed off the entrance. Those plates could hold for at least another hour. Then, she took out landmines and buried a full ring of them around the opening.
While she set traps on this side, the others dug as if their lives depended on it.
