Chapter 887
The moment Hayley finished speaking, the man’s smile froze. It faded from his face.
“With your kind of ability, you shouldn’t be stuck in a cesspool like this, living in a bubble. You should t aiming higher,” he argued.
“But I like my cesspool,” Hayley said calmly. “I’m perfectly happy rolling around in it. You’re chasing the stars and the ocean. I’m focused on my base, the people beside me, and the ground under my feet. Everyone wants something different. I can’t take on your grand ambitions.”
Hayley lowered her blade and drew a line across the ground.
“What’s done is done. From here on out, we stay out of each other’s way. You don’t come after us, and we won’t interfere with you.”
With a flick of her wrist, the blade bit into the earth, carving a trench several inches deep between them Decider Three looked down at the line, and then, unexpectedly, smiled again.
“I like you more and more,” he said. “If that’s what you want, I won’t force the issue. Let’s call it even.”
He stepped forward and stopped just at the edge of the line Hayley had drawn.
Then, he extended his hand.
“As you wish.”
Hayley looked at his hand, pale and bloodless.
She slowly raised hers.
Just as their hands were about to meet, something flashed through her mind.
It was an image of his hand splitting apart like a mechanical construct, shifting and unfolding like something out of a nightmare.
A mechanical limb.
Hayley snapped her hand back.
Decider Three’s eyes lit up with a cold red glow. “Turn them into our allies.”
The instant he gave the order, the man behind him, still clutching his chest, lifted his head. At the same time, a storm of syringes shot through the air toward everyone behind Hayley.
The moment Hayley saw them, she threw up an air barrier, sealing off the people behind her. For a split second, her own defense dropped.
That was all it took.
Decider Three lunged forward and grabbed her hand.
severed his right arm in one clean strike.
Sparks burst where steel met metal His entire mechanical arm dropped to the ground
Instead of getting angry, the man laughed
“No. 7913, welcome to our ranks. Welcome to the new world’
As his words settled, Hayley looked down. The severed arm was still clamped onto her. At its center, a hidden injector slid out. The needle pierced her palm, and the entire dose of Serum X emptied into her body.
“Boss!”
“Boss!”
Griffin and the others rushed forward.
“What did you inject into her?” Leonard shouted, eyes blazing.
“That,” Decider Three said lightly, “is our greatest achievement. The zombie evolution serum.”
“Zombie…”
Every face went pale.
For a moment, no one even breathed.
