Chapter 889
Hayley finished her barrage, hacking Decider Three into nothing but shredded remains. As the last fragments fell, a cold voice cut through the chaos.
“You need to go. The Sovereign Legion is about to move.”
Hayley, who had just reduced Decider Three to bone dust, looked up and saw 5587 clutching his chest as he staggered away.
Behind him, she spotted a massive horde of zombies, like something was holding them back.
A dense, endless sea.
“Raarh!”
“Raarh!”
Their snarls rolled forward like a wave.
“Where are you going?” Hayley called out.
But 5587 didn’t answer. He kept walking straight toward the horde.
At that moment, the Sovereign Legion of zombies lost all restraint.
One after another, the foreign zombie soldiers in heavy military coats charged forward. They had speed- enhanced, strength-enhanced, and element-based gifts. More importantly, almost all of them were high- level zombies above level 5.
This was the Sovereign Legion, made up of zombies!
Hayley sucked in a sharp breath. “Fall back!”
Everyone behind her sprinted toward the helicopter.
Crack. Crack.
Rumble!
The escape tunnel they had used earlier suddenly burst open from below, chunks of earth exploding upward.
Zombies clawed their way out of the ground like corpses rising from graves.
The underground had been breached, too.
“Raarh!”
‘Raarh’ Raarh! Raarh!”
Grotesque, rotting bodies dragged themselves free, their torn flesh hanging loose as they howled and

surged after Hayley’s group.
The helicopter blades started spinning.
Hayley was the fastest. She reached it first, jumped in, and fired it up.
Leonard and the others raised their guns and unleashed a storm of fire at the tide below.
At this point, they were already facing the largest swarm imaginable. There was no reason to worry about noise drawing more in. It wouldn’t matter.
Gunfire thundered nonstop. Rounds poured out in a relentless stream.
They hurled out every ability they had, buying precious seconds for the helicopter to lift.
The less capable ones, like Josh, were shoved straight into the cabin. As the helicopter rose, the rest grabbed onto the rope ladder and began climbing.
From the cockpit, Hayley glanced down at the writhing mass of snarling zombies. Once she confirmed everyone was aboard, she pulled the helicopter sharply upward.
At the same time, dozens of bombs rained down onto the horde.
Boom!
Boom!
Explosions tore through the ground in a relentless chain, fire and shockwaves collapsing everything in their path.
The tremors carried for miles.
Dawn was just beginning to break.
At the West Sea Base, Maisie, who had stayed up all night, rushed out of her office.
She hadn’t slept. She couldn’t. There was too much to handle.
