Chapter 891
All the way up until the apocalypse broke out, Leah had stayed glued to Josh and Maisie.
With Maisie’s trust and her own abilities, Leah continued going on missions alongside Josh.
Maisie had never once doubted her.
Seeing Leah covered in injuries, Maisie stepped forward in concern.
At that moment, Hayley opened the cockpit door and walked down.
“Ms. Reid!” The instant Maisie saw her, she forgot about Leah and turned to Josh. “Honey, help Leah and take her to get treated.”
At that, Hayley let out a short laugh.
The sound made Josh, standing behind Maisie, hesitate. His hand, which had just started to reach ou froze midair.
Maisie sensed something off in the air. “What’s wrong?”
Hayley crossed her arms and leaned lazily against the helicopter, watching the scene unfold without saying a word.
Back in the underground, Josh had at least shown some resolve, saying he would come back and explain everything to Maisie.
Now, he stayed silent.
His eyes flickered with conflict, his head slightly lowered and his face pale.
“Honey, why do you look so bad? Are you hurt somewhere? Go get some rest. I’ve got things here,”
Maisie said.
Her gentle concern only made the struggle in Josh’s eyes deepen.
Just then, another voice cut through the tension. “Josh, having one night with you was already worth it. Even if you regret it now.”
“Shut up!” Josh snapped, cutting Leah off immediately.
But Maisie had already heard.
She went completely still, staring at Leah in shock. “What did you just say?”
*Maisie, let me explain.” Josh rushed in front of her, panic written all over his face. “It’s not what you
think!”
“I’m sorry, Maisie,” Leah cut in. “I’ve loved Josh for 15 years. You’ve had him for 15 years. That should be enough. Let him go. Give him to me.”

“Shut up!” Josh let go of Maisie and grabbed Leah, clamping a hand over her mouth.
He held it tight, refusing to let her say another word.
However, the scene in front of her made Maisie feel like her mind was about to split apart. She stood there stiffly, watching as Josh covered Leah’s mouth and tried to drag her away.
He moved in a hurry, but he still avoided the injuries on her body without thinking.
He had always hated other women touching him. Yet now, he was the one holding her.
As he lifted Leah and started to leave, Maisie finally spoke.
“Josh… Do you love her?”
“I can’t explain this right now.” Josh held Leah in his arms and looked at her deeply. “I need to get her
treated first. She’s badly hurt.”
“Stop! Explain it to me!” Maisie’s voice broke into a sharp cry.
By the time she shouted the last words, tears were already streaming down her face.
Josh saw her tears and flinched, as if he couldn’t bear to look at them. He avoided her gaze. “Maisie, you’re always so understanding. You’ll get it. Back then, w-we…”
Maisie’s tears fell like beads slipping off a broken string. She choked on her words. “So it’s true.’
“Please, not now. You’ve always been reasonable. Leah’s badly hurt. We’ll talk about this later…”
“Josh!” Maisie screamed, her voice cracking. “So you really do love her.”
Under her cries, Josh hesitated.
