Chapter 905
Hearing that, Anthony, a man pushing 50, broke down on the spot.
“Alright. We stay together. No matter what.”
Kate let out a choked sob and wrapped her arms around Anthony and Cloudia. The three of them held each other tightly.
Off to the side, Nash and Sharon watched quietly.
Sharon tilted her head up, looking at the boy who now stood so much taller than her, then reached out and grabbed his hand.
“Nash, I want to go to your place and play video games. Play one more round with me.” 2
Nash looked down at her bright, hopeful eyes. “Yeah. Let’s do that.”
The sun dipped lower, its fading light stretching across every corner of Haylight League, falling over one figure after another.
At the central plaza, helicopters were lined up in rows. Alex stood among them, calling names and sending children aboard one by one.
Aside from a few very young kids, crying as their parents handed them over, almost no one else showed up.
They had prepared transport for 1,000.
In the end, fewer than 100 children boarded.
The students from the school didn’t appear at all.
It was as if they had planned it. Every single one of them had disappeared; no teacher or parent was able to find them.
Alex stared down at the list in his hands. “Sienna, are all the kids from your care here?”
Five children clung tightly to Sienna’s clothes.
“Bring those over here now!” Alex snapped, irritation rising,
“Mom, we’re not going!”
“We’re not going anywhere,” Sienna said calmly, her eyes clear as she looked at the children beside her. “This is our home We’re not leaving.”
“You’re going, too,” Alex said sharply. “Take them and get on the helicopter.”
“I’m not leaving. This is my home.” Sienna shook her head, just as firm.
“This place is about to be surrounded. Do you know how many zombies are coming?” Alex pressed.
“I know,” she said simply. “My dad’s one of them. He’ll protect me.”
Alex didn’t know what to say to that. “Get on the helicopter!”
“I’m not going. My dad’s here. My home’s here. I’m staying.” Sienna had already sent the rest of the children away, but she
refused to leave herself.
The five kids with her refused, too.
Alex felt the pressure building, frustration rising fast.
However, arguing with someone like her wasn’t getting him anywhere. He stepped forward and grabbed her, trying to force her onto the helicopter.
The moment he did, the kids rushed him all at once.

“Bad guy!”
“Don’t touch our mom!”
“Let go of her!”
“We’ll hit you!”
