Chapter 915
Scott looked up at Hayley and let out a distnissive laugh.
“Don’t tell me Ascendant Creed actually brainwashed you into wanting to become a zombie, too,” Hayley continued.
“What’s so bad about becoming a zombie?” Scott replied casually, as if the two of them had suddenly gone back to being old friends sitting together chatting. “You’re constandy calculating and watching your back. Zombies don’t have to live like that. Their world is a lot simpler.”
“Don’t you have parents?” Hayley asked instinctively before remembering the story he had once told her about being abandoned as a child. “Oh, right. You actually don’t.”
Scott had no response to that.
“Sorry,” she said. “People with half a family missing do tend to go a little extreme.”
Scott choked again.
“But what about a girlfriend? Friends? Brothers? Nobody?”
Scott lifted his chin stubbornly. “I don’t need any of that.”
“More like nobody can stand you,” Hayley shot back. “You’re manipulative, vicious, and shady as hell. Even when people help you, you’re still thinking about how to screw them over.”
Scott immediately looked even more irritated.
Seeing the frustrated look on his face only made Hayley laugh.
After watching her laugh for a while, Scott eventually lowered his head and laughed, too.
No matter how badly the two of them had hated each other before, no matter how many times they had schemed against each other or stabbed each other in the back, somehow, all of it slowly faded away at that moment.
Neither of them owed the other anything anymore. Everything between them had finally evened out.
Only when the helicopter was about to land did the atmosphere gradually turn cold again.
Outside the window, the sky had become pale and colorless.
Heavy snowflakes drifted endlessly across the frozen wilderness below.
Through the storm, Hayley spotted a massive military camp built out on the snowfield.
As the helicopter descended, Scott looked at her one last time.
“Have you really thought this through?”
“Of course.” Hayley’s eyes turned cold. “I’m killing every last one of those Ascendant Creed bastards.”
Scott stared at her expression for a moment but said nothing else.
The helicopter landed, and he stepped out first.
Hayley followed closely behind him and immediately saw enormous tents buried beneath thick layers of snow. Dark shapes filled the interiors so densely that it was impossible to make out what they were with the naked eye.
Hayley’s transformed right eye saw everything clearly.
Row after row of zombie soldiers stood inside in perfect military formation.
This place was probably their military canop
“Is this your headquarters or your barrada?” Hayley asked quietty.
“Both”
Hayley’s eyes lit up. “So those bastards are all here?
Scott shook his head. “I can’t be sure. The Deciders are spread all over the world.”
Hearing that, Hayley calmed herself slightly. “Then when will they come here?”
“I don’t know.”
Scott swiped his SS-level access card with a sharp beep and opened a heavy bunker-like door in front of them
The massive mechanical doors slowly split apart, revealing an elevator descending underground.
From the moment they entered this place, Scott stopped speaking entirely. At the same time, Hayley’s nerves tightened completely.
The instant she stepped inside, countless infrared scanners and surveillance systems locked onto her body.
Keeping her expression cold, she followed Scott into the elevator as it began descending deeper underground.
