Julian was the first to react. “So… What do you want us to do?”

“Submit to me.”

Hayley stood in front of them all, sharp and commanding.

“I can’t promise to restore your lives to how they were before the apocalypse, but if you submit to me, I’ll make sure you become the happiest base residents in the world.”

Leonard stood firmly behind her, a solid and unwavering presence. A natural aura of strength radiated from Hayley, drawing everyone toward her without them even realizing it.

“Then I’m in! My wife and I will follow you!” Julian was the first to agree. He grabbed Rowena’s hand and climbed down from the generator.

They had no reason to refuse.

Zombies were everywhere. There was nowhere to go and no home to return to. They had no food, no job, and were constantly at risk of being attacked by the undead.

Of course, they would choose the safest place to settle.

And if it weren’t for Hayley saving them, they wouldn’t have survived another minute.

She was strong and powerful. Just based on her strength alone, they were willing to follow her. Without her, how could they even survive?

After Julian and Rowena went down, the remaining people hurriedly followed.

“We’ll follow, too!”

“Me too!”

“I’ll go with you! Just promise we’ll be safe and give us food!”

Almost everyone agreed immediately, except for a pair of young girls.

“W–We wanna go home,” one of them said timidly to Hayley.

Hayley lazily lifted her gaze and gave them a single look. “Everywhere’s crawling with zombies. How do you know there’s not any at home?”

The girls hesitated for a moment.

“No! We still wanna go home!” one of them insisted.

Hayley gave no further persuasion. Coldly, she said, “Then go.”

The girls, as if granted mercy, glanced at Hayley and Leonard, then quickly headed toward the ladder along the wall.

Some of the others wanted to object, but in the end, they let it go, watching the two leave.

That left 16 of the original 18 in the group.

As they pledged their loyalty, a notification pinged in Hayley’s mind.

Among the 16 residents she accepted, 3 were the Gifted.

By accepting them, their special attributes would copy directly onto Hayley.

Immediately, Hayley felt her body changing. She could feel limitless strength surging through her, flowing in every muscle.

Even better, repeated gifts stacked, doubling her existing abilities.

She gained 1,600 points and three gifts from this batch of residents, and she couldn’t have been more satisfied.

Once the system confirmed their status as residents, their gazes toward Hayley shifted, filled with admiration and a sense of closeness.

“You can just call me Ms. Reid from now on.”

“Got it, Ms. Reid!” they all said warmly, addressing Hayley with respect and familiarity.
