**TITLE: Dreams Rise Again by Braxton 103**
**Chapter 103**
Back at the Forest Isle Zoo, Nina took a moment to secure the important documents she had gathered, tucking them safely away in her bag. She felt a surge of determination wash over her. It was time to gather her animal companions and head to the demolition site for a firsthand look.
In her mind, she thought, *With all those rats and strays lurking about, it’s only fitting that I bring along the formidable Tabby King.* A confident smile crept across her face as she envisioned the mighty feline by her side.
The Squirrel Bros had just completed a meticulous grooming session, their tails fluffed to perfection. Nina chuckled to herself, thinking about the construction zone ahead, devoid of trees and filled with dust. *Best not to let them ruin their beautiful fur for nothing,* she mused.
Meanwhile, the injured little ferret, Pearlic, had become particularly affectionate. He clung tightly to Nina’s shoulder, his tiny body trembling slightly as he whimpered, “Ms. Summer, take me with you. I wanna go too!” His eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, reminiscent of an eager puppy longing for adventure.
Nina couldn’t help but smile at his persistence. “You’re still in recovery, Pearlic, and already causing a ruckus. But alright, alright, I’ll take you along,” she relented, her heart warming at his excitement.
Tabby Cat, perched regally nearby, cast a glance at the little ferret clinging to Nina. Puffed up with pride, he declared, “Me, the King, possess both legs and dignity. I can walk wherever I please, even hop in the car—unlike certain clingy runts.”
Though they didn’t have a car yet, Nina had recently acquired a sleek white electric scooter. It was the perfect mode of transport for zipping around the zoo and beyond—quick, nimble, and incredibly convenient.
In her quest to accommodate her furry friends, she had even gone the extra mile to install a plush, cozy pet crate on the scooter.
With a graceful leap, Tabby King hopped onto the scooter, settling himself comfortably in the crate. He then reached out with his front paws to pull Pearlic close, a protective glint in his eyes, as if to say, *I’m on duty. Stick with me, and you’ll be safe.*
Nina laughed, her heart light with joy. “Alright, here we go!” She revved up the little scooter, carrying her royal feline and her clingy ferret, and zoomed off toward the demolition site.
As they approached, the scene unfolded before them: dust swirled in the air, machines rumbled ominously, and rows of houses lay in ruins. In the very center stood a two-story gray concrete building, stubbornly defiant against the destruction surrounding it—a nail hammered deep into the wreckage, impossible to overlook.
The atmosphere was bleak and desolate; its windows were dark and hollow, and the haze in the sky cast a chilling pall over the scene, amplifying the eerie vibe that hung in the air.
Tabby Cat hopped off the scooter, his tail flicking with an air of authority. “Alright, I’m going to patrol the area. You take care of yourself,” he commanded, assuming the role of protector.
Perched on Nina’s shoulder, Pearlic raised his little paw, soft yet resolute. “Don’t worry, Ms. Summer. I’ll keep you safe,” he promised, his eyes shining with determination.
Tabby Cat glanced back, chin held high in mock arrogance. “Hmph, let’s see if you’re tough enough to join my Order of the Paw,” he teased, his pride evident.
At that moment, Pearlic leaned in closer to Nina’s ear, fiddling with her hair, his voice barely a whisper. “Ms. Summer, I drank too much water before we left.”
Nina’s eyes widened in surprise for a brief moment, then they sparkled with understanding as a knowing smile spread across her face.
Just as Nina arrived, she witnessed the demolition company’s negotiators being practically tossed out by the stubborn owner, who was refusing to budge an inch.
The man’s twisted, menacing expression radiated anger, his voice booming as he shouted, “No demolition! You take this down, you destroy my fortune! All of you, get the hell out of here!”
The leader of the demolition crew stumbled back, unable to contain his frustration. “So damn greedy—one million dollars and he’s still not satisfied,” he muttered under his breath.
