Chapter 197
Chapter 197
All sorts of experts stared at Nina, the baby-faced girl.
“Do you mean you can get it out today? Seriously?”
“She’s just a kid, but she sure talks a big game.”

Westin’s gaze was cold, sounding like he was lecturing a clueless junior. “Nina, I know leaving the Summer family wasn’t easy, and you’re eager to prove yourself.
“But medicine isn’t child’s play, and the operating room isn’t your stage. Don’t try to steal the spotlight at the expense of this horse’s future.”
Claire spoke up to “rescue” Nina. “Dr. Nichols, don’t get the wrong idea. Nina just wants to help out. She’s not like you. She doesn’t even have a master’s degree.
“All those high-level medical theories and your complex approach are difficult for her, so it’s only natural she’d overestimate
herself.”
The experts exchanged knowing looks after hearing Claire.
“Wait, doesn’t she even have a master’s degree?”
“Who does she think she is, questioning Dr. Nichols?”
Claire heard the experts’ murmurs and looked at Nina with a playful glint in her eyes.
Nina met her gaze, smiling slightly.
Back when she was an exchange student at the Royal Veterinary College, she crushed it, landing a guaranteed spot in grad school was basically effortless for her.
However, the Summer family yanked her back home and put her to work for free.
During her time at the Summer Veterinary Group, she was consulting patients by day, burning midnight oil on research, and working nonstop like a machine. The experience she racked up totally blew her peers out of the water.
And now the Summer family still had the audacity to throw her lack of degrees in her face. That was just ridiculous.
Nina said directly, “Ms. Summer, medicine and detective work are the same; it’s all about what you can do, not what letters you have after your name. If you can fix the problem, you’re a good doctor.”
Her voice was breezy, every word sharp. “Funny thing is, I’m just a rookie who switched tracks halfway, but my success rate seems to edge out that fancy crime expert the Summer family brought back from abroad.”
Claire’s smile froze instantly, and she clenched her fist so hard that her nails bit into her palm. She thought, ‘Damn, this girl always goes straight for my weak spot.
Then, something seemed to click for Claire, and her smile deepened. “Alright, since you’re so sure of yourself, the stage is yours. Show us what you can do.”.
She stepped aside, her voice laced with exaggerated respect. “Maybe our Summer Group experts can pick up a few tricks from you.”
Westin frowned at her, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Claire leaned close, whispering, “Relax. Once she’s stumped, you can just swoop in and be the hero. Everyone will see just

how brilliant you are compared to her.”
Westin gave a slight nod. “For someone so young to lead the Summer Group, you’re truly impressive.”
Claire was glad to hear the praise.

She thought, Just wait. Once Mr. Karim pins the blame on Nina for screwing things up, Mr. Hayes will turn his back on her, and she’ll lose her golden ticket, the Hayes Group.’
Nina took hold of Silkcloud’s lead rope. “Mr. Karim, leave it to me. No need for any risky, invasive vascular surgery. My plan just needs a small, minimally invasive cut, and that’ll solve it.”
Westin caught the dig at his plan and snorted, not even bothering to hide his disdain. He thought, ‘She’d better not come begging for my help later.
Nina gave Silkcloud a gentle pat on the neck. “Silkcloud, do you want me to take that needle out for you?”
Silkcloud bobbed his head enthusiastically, acting like the perfect good boy “Absolutely. No way am I letting that clueless guy turn me into his blood vessel experiment.”
Seeing Silkcloud put so much faith in Nina, Karim wavered for a moment.
A few businessmen eager to curry favor with Karim quickly jumped in to dissuade him. “Mr. Karim, this is risky. This is a 50- million-dollar Akhal-Teke. How can you let some random girl turn him into her experiment?
“We checked her out. She just runs a tiny zoo. If she screws up, she won’t be able to
pay
for it.”
Quentin, who had been silent until now, spoke up in a calm, steady voice. “If anything goes wrong, the Hayes Group will take full responsibility.”
The moment he said that, everyone who’d been so vocal just a second ago suddenly went dead silent.
They knew the Hayes Group had the clout to back up that promise.
Karim gave a decisive nod.
Quentin turned to Nina, his voice steady. “Go ahead.”
Nina nodded and led Silkcloud toward the operating room.
The observation room was packed with every vet team in the building. The live stream was already rolling, and the operating room was broadcast in high definition for everyone to see.
Nina gently stroked Silkcloud’s neck inside the operating room and asked quietly, “Is the needle in your left foreleg, Silkcloud?”
She gently felt along Silkcloud’s left foreleg with her palm.
When Nina touched a spot on his left foreleg, Silkcloud suddenly lifted his head. “That’s it. The little needle is right here. It
tickles.”
Nina picked up a surgical marker and drew a precise “X” at the exact spot on Silkcloud’s left foreleg where he felt uncomfortable.
To the other vets, it looked like child’s play.
“She’s not even using an ultrasound. That’s way too reckless.”
“I’ve never seen anyone do surgery this carelessly.”

Nina was already in her white coat, holding a precision scalpel in her hand.
Whenever she treated animals, it was like she flipped a switch and became someone else entirely.

Nina handled the tiny blade with such skill and confidence, and it seemed almost like an extension of her own body.
Nina gently pierced Silkcloud’s skin, making a tiny, minimally invasive incision. At the same moment, she deftly slid the vascular forceps inside with her left hand.
In an instant, she precisely grasped the titanium micro-needle with the forceps and extracted it with both speed and precision.
Nina set the titanium micro-needle down on the medical tray. Then she quickly took care of Silkcloud’s tiny incision.
Her movements were seamless, her face totally relaxed, like this was second nature.
The whole needle extraction took less than three minutes.
The vet teams in the observation room just stared in shock as Nina peeled off her gloves and was already moving on to washing up.
“Wait, is it over already?”
“She
got that thing out of a blood vessel in just a few minutes, and didn’t even use any imaging equipment.”
“Did I just blink? I yawned, and she was already done.”
When Nina placed the titanium micro-needle onto the table, the chatter in the observation room instantly died.
Everyone got a clear look at the titanium micro-needle. It was so fine that it was barely visible.
That was the culprit that had been messing with Silkcloud’s blood vessel.
The Summer Group’s expert went into embarrassment, practically shoving his assistant. “Quick. Go tell Dr. Nichols and Ms. Summer to call it off. They don’t need to prep anymore.”
At the same time, Westin was going over Silkcloud
vascular scans with Claire/in the medical imaging room, laying out the emergency backup plan just in case Nina did something reckless and things went sideways.
Suddenly, a sharp knock on the door interrupted him mid-sentence.
“Bad news,” the vet assistant shouted from outside the door.
Claire opened the door, her lips curling into a smug smile as she looked at the flustered assistant. “What’s wrong? It’s only been ten minutes. Did Nina already mess things up?”
Westin’s voice was icy, like he’d seen this coming. “I told you that someone as impulsive as her can’t be trusted.”
Without waiting for another word, the two of them strode out of the imaging room.
The anxious assistant rushed after them, thinking, ‘Come on, can’t they just hear me out?’
