The Fake Heiress and Her Purrfect Partner novel Chapter 221

Chapter 221

:.

Lorelai’s voice was heavy with pity. Later, Tanya just couldn’t catch a break, no matter what she tried. Ber mental state went downhill fast, and she started to really doubt herself.

“It took her a long time to discover that all her misfortune began with that impostor who stole her place and had powerful friends helping him.

“By the time Tanya pieced it all together, they’d already become too powerful. She had no choice but to leave in a hurry, so your whole family wouldn’t get dragged into this?

Simon was silent for a long time, trying to process everything, He spoke at last ‘So, Nina and Claire being switched at birth wasn’t an accident at all.”

Then he caught a deeper contradiction, his brow furrowing “If Charles was an impostor, the smartest thing for him would be to keep the truth buried. Why bother swapping Nina and Claire, only to bring Claire back twenty-two years later?”

Lorelai shot up in bed, not even caring about her wounds. “What? Did that impostor actually swap Tanya’s daughter at birth:

Nina quickly explained the situation, the mix-up that swapped her and Claire at birth, and how Charles had recently brought Claire back into the family.

Lorelai’s face, still pale from illness, turned bright red with fury as she heard the truth. “That’s downright vicious! Tanya went through hell all these years, pinching every penny just to send money home, never missing a single month.

“After all that, the girl she poured her heart and soul into raising turned out to be that impostor’s daughter!”

The moment Lorelai finished, Simon snapped his head around to face her. His voice trembled with shock “Wait, Lorelai, did you just say that Mom was sending us money every single month?”

Lorelai’s eyes were red, her voice thick with heartbreak. “She couldn’t come back to see you, but you and your sister were always on her mind.

“Tanya hustled all day at the paint factory, then spent her nights painting or doing crafts, just scraping by, barely getting any sleep. She scrimped and saved every cent she made, just so she could send it all back to

you.

“She was scared those people keeping tabs on her would snatch away even this last bit of attachment she had.

“So, she had us send the money through a charity, as the only way to slip it past them and make sure you actually got it.”

Simon, who always kept his cool, felt a sudden burning behind his eyes, and tears streamed down uncontrollably. His voice was hoarse. “I always wondered. Where in the world do you find such long-lasting ‘kind-hearted’ people? What were the odds?

“Not only did they start sponsoring us when we were kids, but after we went to college, our living expenses became ridiculously generous.”

Chapter 221

:

It suddenly hit Nina. She thought, ‘Everything made sense now. Mom must have been secretly looking out for Simon all these years. How else could he have raised Claire alone after Dad died? He was just a child himself then.

‘And Claire, the girl Simon had sacrificed everything to bring up, using every last cent Mom sent, was actually the daughter of the person behind all their suffering.’ Nina’s stomach turned, sick to her core, like she’d just swallowed a bug.

Nina forced herself to calm down and think things through, then a realization struck her. “Earlier this year, the head of the Summer family passed away.” Tanya’s birth father, the head of the Summer family, was also Charles’s “Dad” in name only.

Twenty years ago, Charles, unable to best Joanna, left for Jelasburg to start fresh. Nina barely knew her grandfather, so they were never close.

Yet, Charles consistently exploited the Summer family’s connections in Juniper. After the old man died, Charles still inherited a good deal, even though Joanna took charge of most of Summerview Capital.

As Nina spoke, everything started to make sense. “Mom was the family head’s real daughter, but with him gone, no paternity test can prove it now. And the Summer family’s inheritance has already been divided up.

“Is this why Charles is bringing Claire back into the family now? Because there’s no proof left, he no longer has to worry about anything coming to light.

“That’s why he kept me around before. He still needed me for the vaccine. But the moment I finished it, he tossed me aside and couldn’t wait to welcome his ‘real’ daughter, Claire, home.”

A cold glint flashed in Simon’s eyes, his knuckles turning white from how hard he was clenching his fists. All those years, he’d been looking after his enemy’s kid, while his real sister was getting used and abused.

Nina’s voice was icy. “Simon, you graduated at the top of your class from the National Police Academy, with a shelf full of awards, but you ended up stuck in some remote township. Was Charles messing with you behind the scenes?”

Simon nodded heavily. His voice was tight with suppressed anger. “Back then, I could’ve landed a great job in Juniper, but they rejected me over so-called ‘background issues’, one controversial incident from Dad’s time on the force.

“Later, I went for another position, and I aced both the written and interview parts. But once I got there, they just told me I needed ‘more experience’ and dumped me in Pondtown Police Station.

“I always figured it was because I was too blunt in school and pissed off some trust fund brats. Huh. Who would’ve thought?”

Simon kept scrolling through Charles’s file on his phone. “He left Juniper for Jelasburg at twenty-five. His reach shouldn’t have gone that far back when I was in college. He’s just a fake. How could he possibly wield this much power?

“First, targeting Mom. Then, swapping out my sister. Now I’m in his crosshairs. The Summer family in Juniper can’t possibly be oblivious to this whole damn mess blowing up.” A truly horrifying thought began to solidify in Simon’s mind.
