The Fake Heiress and Her Purrfect Partner novel Chapter 248

Chapter 248

As soon as the masters in the mansion’s hall saw new faces trying to steal their business, they started loudly protesting and shouting their objections.

“These two kids look like they just finished their apprenticeship, huh?” one of them scoffed.

“With that little bit of experience, they think they can compete with us?” another sneered.

“Detectives? Pretending to be all mysterious. Here in Eastland, we stick to the real deal, not theirs.”

Someone even mocked Fiona, saying sarcastically, “Ms. Lane, are you deliberately trying to hurt your grandma?”

Fiona’s face turned livid with anger. “You bunch of con artists, I’ll have you all locked up sooner or later.”

Just then, a man in his thirties came down from the second floor; it was Fiona’s cousin, Danny Chase.

With a stern face, he confronted Fiona. “Fiona, these masters say they’re helping Grandma. They all claim this house has bad energy and keep telling her to move out and sell the place ASAP, but you keep stopping her.”

As he spoke, his eyes turned cold, and his voice dropped. “Don’t tell me you’re just eyeing Grandma’s inheritance and don’t really care about her at all?”

Fiona shot back right away, “There’s nothing wrong with this house, but you? Why are you so desperate to push Grandma into selling the place she’s called home for decades? What’s your angle here?”

Danny’s expression froze for a moment. He gave a pointed look to the master in the traditional garb. “Mr. Yates, why don’t you tell everyone just how cursed this house really is? Maybe that’ll set the record straight for

her.”

Esteban stroked his beard and stepped forward at a leisurely pace. “Since Mrs. Lane doesn’t believe us and even went out of her way to bring in these detectives.”

His tone was thick with disdain. “Allow me to demonstrate.”

Esteban gestured to his assistant,

Soon enough, the assistant carefully brought over a glass tank with a slow-moving turtle just chilling inside.

Esteban cleared his throat and started his mystical spiel. “Most folks don’t know this, but turtles are mystical creatures; they’ve been able to sense evil energy since ancient times.

“And this one right here? It’s a Psychic Turtle I personally fetched from the spirit lake of Fairy Lake Mountain. It’s super sensitive to bad vibes.”

As soon as Nina saw that turtle, she and Fiona exchanged a knowing look.

Now she totally got why Fiona had brought her here.

Chapter 248

Esteban gently placed the Psychic Turtle right in the center of the living room floor.

The turtle’s shell was definitely one of a kind, deep brown, with natural bands of gold and brown swirling around it, shimmering softly under the lights.

At first glance, it almost looked like some kind of mystical creature straight out of a legend.

After being placed on the floor, the turtle first wandered around aimlessly for a few steps.

Then its crawling path grew increasingly bizarre, until it suddenly tucked its head and limbs into its shell and became completely motionless.

Meanwhile, Esteban was theatrically holding a brush, making a show of drawing on a piece of paper as the turtle moved.

Once the turtle had fully withdrawn into its shell, Esteban immediately raised the paper and announced in a solemn tone, “Everyone, take a look. The Psychic Turtle wasn’t just wandering around; it was guided by fate, and its path has written a word on the floor.”

He dramatically flipped the paper over, revealing the character for death, drawn in twisted, distorted strokes. “It’s the word for death right there.”

Instantly, the whole room went wild. The masters and Danny all started freaking out.

“Oh crap, the evil in this house is off the charts.”

“Even the Psychic Turtle spelled out death; that’s a major red flag.”

Esteban was beside himself with grief as he declared, “Even a long-lived Psychic Turtle has been forced to hide in its shell. Isn’t the danger here obvious enough for everyone?”

Elowen stared at the twisted death character on Esteban’s paper, her fingers clutching her beads as her face went ghostly pale.

Danny immediately rushed to support her, putting on an exaggerated show of concern. “Grandma, you saw it yourself, right? This house is so cursed that even the Psychic Turtle spelled out death to kick us out.

“It’s practically begging you to sell the house and get out of here. I’ve already found you a top-notch nursing home; see how much your loving grandson is looking out for you?”

Danny suddenly turned on Fiona, pointing right at her. “No matter what, Fiona just won’t let you sell the house. Honestly, I bet she’s just-

Just then, a light chuckle broke the silence.

Her quiet laugh cut him off mid-sentence.

Everyone turned to see Nina, gazing at the turtle tucked into its shell on the floor, a knowing smirk on her face.
