Chapter 210
Maddox
As soon as my father said that, I stared at Tiffany without blinking, my eyes going a little wide.
She froze in a way that made it seem like the words didn’t land.
Then, she burst into laughter. It was so sharp and loud that it sounded forced.
“Oh my God,” she said, waving a hand lightly. “Okay, dad, that’s not funny.”
She quickly composed herself, smoothing down her hair like she was resetting the moment.

“Seriously,” she continued, shaking her head. “Can we not do this? So much has already happened. We don’t need jokes like
that.”
My eyes finally moved to my father, but he didn’t even look at me. He kept his gaze locked on her.
“I’m not joking,” he said firmly.
This time, it landed and her smile dropped completely. Her lips parted, but no sound came out at first.
Then, she let out a heavy breath.
“How…” she began, her voice unsteady. “How’s that possible?”
She let out another laugh, but it still wasn’t real. “What’s going on?” Her voice began to rise. “What is this?”
My father exhaled slowly. “I’ve suspected it ever since I found out your mother was having an affair. If she could do that. then it wasn’t unreasonable to think she could be hiding something else. That’s why I had a DNA test done privately.”
“Did you hear what you just said?” She snapped while pointing at him. “This is about your issues with her and somehow I’m the one being dragged into it?” Her voice got louder with every word. “So, you just woke up one day and decided that I’m not your daughter because of what has happened?”
“Tiffany,” he tried to speak. “The DNA-”
“No!” She cut him off sharply. “This makes no sense to me and I refuse to believe it!” Her voice cracked with emotion. “It’s ridiculous!”
She kept going on and on until her voice broke completely.
It was only then that she stopped. She was already out of breath with tears streaming down her face.
Then, her next words came out softer like she was fragile.
“Dad, please don’t say things like that,” she whispered.
For a moment, I didn’t see the Tiffany who was always cruel and thought she was on top of the world. She was visibly
shaken.
“I’m sorry,” my father said. “But it’s the truth. If you want confirmation, we can ask your mother”
Tiffany quickly unzipped her bag and rummaged through to get her phone. When she had it in her hand and unlocked it. her fingers were already trembling.

Just as she placed the phone against her ear, my father leaned forward and said. “You shouldn’t ask her over the phone. She needs to come here.”
She was so disturbed that she didn’t even acknowledge that she had heard him.
By the time Margot picked up. Tiffany had already tried to compose herself, but it still wasn’t enough.
“Mom,” she said, her voice shaky, “can you come over to Dad’s estate? That doesn’t matter. I’ll explain when you get here. Yes, now.”
After that, she ended the call with a deep sigh. Her hand was still shaking and she tried to hide it, but I could still see it.
The entire time, she didn’t even look in my direction, but not once did I stop looking at her because I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel. Was it shock, confusion or satisfaction? Nothing was a proper fit.
The silence carried on for a few minutes as she stared down at her hands until suddenly, she got up from her seat and stormed out, heading straight to the foyer and then the front door.
It hadn’t even been a minute since she had stormed out when my father exhaled slowly, leaning back in his seat like that conversation has taken more out of him than he was willing to admit.
“I think you should go and check on your si-” he stopped halfway, his jaw tightening slightly before he corrected himself. “… Tiffany.”
Without hesitation, I got up and began to leave because whatever she was, she just had her entire world ripped apart. I ran a hand through my hair, thinking about how she had been nothing but a pain in the ass for as long as I could remember, but that wasn’t one of those times. I tried to picture myself in her place. Find out just like that, that everything I thought I was… wasn’t real. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, not even her.
I found her outside in her car and the engine was still off.
I walked all the way to the driver’s side, right where she was and didn’t speak right away as I just watched her.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as her head rested against it. Her shoulders rose and fell with heavy breaths like she would lash out at any moment but was still holding it in.
When I finally figured out what to say, I just went for it.
“Are you okay?”
The words barely left my mouth before she snapped.
“Just fuck off!” Her head jerked up, her eyes red with her cheeks smeared in her tears. “It’s not like you’re here because you care. Her voice was sharp and broken at the same time. “You just want you to see me like this, don’t you?”
I didn’t even respond right away because that was going to be pointless to her.
“You’ve always wanted this!” she continued. “So don’t come out here and pretend like this is bothering you. I don’t even want you here right now, so get out out of my fucking sight!”
I sighed. “Look-”
“I said fuck off!” she cut me off.
I glanced at her stomach. “Don’t get too worked up. You’re pregnant.”
She let out a bitter laugh, like there was nothing I could say to get through to her at that moment.

Chapter 210
“Just go.”
With a nod of understanding, I faced the other side and began to walk away.
When I got back inside, my father was exactly where I left him.
He looked up the moment I walked into the living room. “That was quick.”
“She didn’t want me there,” I said, as I took my seat.
“Maybe it was too soon,” he said.
I didn’t respond right away as I studied him for a few seconds.

Then, I finally processed it and said “I wasn’t expecting that at all. Now it makes sense why everything ended up in my name.”
He nodded in agreement. “I can’t wait for Margot to get here. I’d like to see her try to deny it.”
