The Invisible Girl's Revenge (Harper) novel Chapter 218

Chapter 218

Grayson

Tiffany’s demand made me step on the brakes so hard that the tires screeched loudly against the road as the car came to a stop on the side of the road.

For a few seconds, everything went still and I dropped my hands from the steering wheel. Then, I slowly turned to face her with furrowed eyebrows as I couldn’t believe what I just heard.

Before I could even ask, I saw her posture change. She crossed her arms and raised her chin slightly, letting it be known that whatever she had just said, she wasn’t joking.

What?I said, my voice sharp with disbelief.

She snapped her head toward me with anger flashing in her eyes. Are you deaf now? I said I want everything back! She leaned back in her seat with a heavy grunt, facing the road again. I already have so much to lose and the least I can do is hold on to what’s mine.”

I processed it for a few seconds, then burst into laughter while shaking my head.

Nope. That’s not happening.”

Her eyes narrowed as she jerked her head back in my direction. Excuse me?

Are you deaf now? I said I’m not transferring anything back.” My tone was so calm and amused that it only seemed to piss her off some more.

She forced a laugh. You’re kidding.”

Am I?I leaned back in my seat confidently, resting my hands on the steering wheel with a firm grip.

You better listen to me,she said, pointing a finger at me. I was certain that she would have gotten closer if not for the seatbelt keeping her in place. I’m the one who gave it all to you and I can take it/back!

I sighed, like she was just wasting her time. No, you can’t.

Her expression hardened further and I could see the frustration building. Anybody else would have been scared of her, but I

wasn’t.

Don’t get on my nerves right now,she said, her tone low and threatening

Her little threat only made me tilt my head slightly. Or what? You and I/had a deal, so you don’t get to change the rules. whenever you feel like it.

Her breath got heavier as she tightened her jaw, but she didn’t respond right away. Instead, she just stared at me like she expected me to change my mind, but I just stared back at her with a look of amusement.

Wanting to see what she was about to do, I dragged it out a little longer but nothing happened.

It was then that I started the car again like nothing had happened and just like that, I pulled back onto the road, continuing the drive as if she hadn’t just demanded something ridiculous.

I didn’t bother turning on the radio again because I wanted to hear that heavy breathing coming from her. It hadn’t stopped from the time I had gotten back on the road. I glanced at her from time to time, expecting another outburst or threat, but it didn’t come. She wasn’t even angry anymore.

Tiffany and I had been through so much together over the years and for as long as I had known her, I had never seen her

like that before. Her expression had changed to something less explosive and more focused, like she was planning her next move and that made me tighten my grip on the steering wheel. It bothered me that she didn’t bring it up again, like she had already figured out something and to me, that was a problem.

She didn’t look like she was going to talk to me anytime soon and I had no plans of doing the same either, so the silence dragged on for a few minutes.

Even as I kept my eyes on the road, I still told myself to pay attention to her. I could feel that shift in her energy and it didn’t seem to fade.

When I caught sudden movement from the corner of my eye, I immediately glanced at her to see what she was about to do.

She roughly rummaged through her handbag, took out her phone and scrolled quickly for a few seconds. Then, she dialed a number and pressed the phone against her ear. Her grip was so tight that her knuckles slightly turned white.

I couldn’t help but laugh to myself at her plan to intimidate me. So this was it? Calling someone in my presence so I could hear her clearly state her desire to get her shares back?
