I should’ve known it wasn’t going to go Tiffany’s way when I saw the door being left ajar after Brenda and her lawyer came in. Something important would’ve been behind closed doors.

“What?” Tiffany said loudly with shock, then forced a laugh. “This has to be a joke and it’s not funny at all. I thought we were here to do business.”

“We are,” Brenda said, keeping her tone professional. “That’s why I’m delivering this news. The company has already been acquired. You’re too late.”
