Chapter 273

Chapter 273

Harper

Veronica didn’t want to take the stairs, so she led the way to the elevator and I rushed after her because I thought she’d change her mind or something.

I followed her into the master bedroom and she sat down right in front of the mirror and handed me a comb I wood righ behind her and began combing through her hair while we both looked into the mirror.

I wanted to break the ice, but didn’t know how, so I just kept combing her hair in silence.

“Does it mean if I don’t tell you to stop, you won’t?” she finally said.

I chuckled nervously as I put down the comb. “I just didn’t know when to stop.”

“You and I both know my hair was already so luscious. I just needed to have a word with you in private. I’m sorry as well. It haven’t made things easy for you while you try to adjust within the family and the business. I was so blinded by most of m husband’s decisions that I took it out on you. Dean adores you a lot and he’s always telling me stories about you. That’s how got to realize just how close you two are. He’s constantly asked me to open up my heart to you, but it’s never been easy unt now. I didn’t know how much I needed to hear your apology until you said it. How about we-”

She paused when her phone rang. Since it was right on the table, I was able to see that it was Dean.

“He must be wondering what’s taking so long,” she said politely.

It felt good for a change to hear that tone while we were alone.

When she picked up, she actually put it on speaker and looked at me like she couldn’t wait to hear his reaction.

“Mom, where are you?”

“I’m upstairs with Harper. We were having a little chat.”

“Oh, you were?”

She chuckled softly. “Of course.”

He chuckled as well. “Then that just made this moment even better because it’s full of good news

“What are you talking about?”

“My girlfriend’s here!”

We were both so excited to see her that as soon as we glanced at each other, we started heading for the bedroves does die I very next second

As the elevator took us down, she constantly tied her head from left to right as she spoke out at all the things she hoped she wouldn’t see on Deans girlfriend

No one seemed to want to answer that question as they were too focused on the way the two of us came in together.

“How is it that the two of you came in at the same time?” Lily asked.

“We were upstairs,” I said proudly. “She needed help with something.”

“Harper’s right.” She walked over to my father and took a seat next to him.

Even the tone of her voice as she said my name was so different that everyone could feel it and they were so pleased.

“Are you just going to stand there?” she said to me. “How about you sit down?”

She gently patted the empty spot next to her and Uncle Hank’s jaw dropped for a second.

Even Trina looked surprised. She was the other person I needed to talk to.

Just a few seconds after I took my seat next to Veronica, Dean appeared from the hallway alone.

“Everyone, I’d like you to meet my girlfriend.”

He gestured with both hands to the hallway and when his girlfriend finally came into view by holding his hand. my jaw dropped because it was Kate.

Our eyes met for a second and she just smiled like it was an ordinary day.

Just as it was with me, the first time I came to the estate, she was welcomed with open arms.

It was a good thing she had no weird piercings or tattoos because I could see the approval from Veronica right away

My father also gave Kate a warm welcome but didn’t pay much attention to that afterwards. He constantly stared at his wife and me with a proud smile.

He kept glancing over even after Kate and Dean took their seats while the rest of the family made her feel comfortable

I had so many questions for Kate that I couldn’t wait to talk to her in private. She kept glancing around the room at everyone, including me, like she was meeting everyone for the first time. But just for a second, a different expression wippes out, one that told me she knew that we needed to talk.

It was quickly replaced by another smile when Aunt Rachel asked her how she met Dean

I was on my way back from one of the bathrooms on the ground floor when I stepped mic the hallway and instantly stopped in my tracks because Trina was right there She had her back against the wall with crossed arms and looked like she wa waiting for me

“Hey I said politely
