Sable POV
You have got to be kidding me. I am in my home, far away from Winter Moon, and this joke of a mate is here, asking me why I’m crying?
“Why are you here?” I say a little sharper than I mean too. You know what, forget that. He has treated me like I’m unimportant the entire day. Sharp is perfect.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m here for you. I wanted to bring you back to Winter Moon. You had me worried sick when you weren’t at the hospital.” He said and it sounds sincere, but I don’t trust this man.
“Oh, so you remembered I exist after all?” I say sarcastically.
“I’m sorry, Sable. Something came up and you were still changing. I asked the nurse at the nurse's station to tell you I would be right back. She stepped away when you exited the room and then you left the hospital without knowing that I was coming right back.”
Huh? So, the nurse was supposed to relay a message to me? That pack hospital must not like me at all.
“Thank you for explaining. But it doesn’t change anything. I’m staying here. How did you get in anyway?”
He looks at me, his eyes giving nothing away. “I popped the handle on the door. Listen, I know it looks like I just left you there when we were supposed to walk back together, but it really is a misunderstanding. Please come back with me.”
“Pass. Leaving me abandoned, regardless of the nurse, isn’t the only reason I’m not going back, Alpha.” I begin. Nia is telling me to let him have it, and I fully intend to, “First, you stabbed me. Whether intentional or not, I was unconscious for two days. TWO DAYS. When I wake up, you are sterile in your behavior and not once did it ever cross your mind to apologize for stabbing me. Then you leave and don’t come back until your beta mind links you. I know that’s why you showed up. What? You couldn’t be bothered to make sure your mate was attended to or ate? Then you very casually tell me you don’t value or cherish sex and even share the same woman with your warriors.
“What? Oh, no, you won’t. You have your own pack to run.”
“Didn’t you just verbally thrash me for leaving you abandoned? Now you want me to leave you alone here, injured and with no protection?” He says sarcastically as he takes a step towards me.
“You can’t stay here. Alpha Darius was furious when you sent Marcus back.” I say, stepping back. He keeps stepping towards me and I can feel my heart racing.
“You are my mate. You just scolded me, quite thoroughly, might I add, about abandoning you. So, if we are not leaving right now, then we will leave after you have rested and we will bring some of your things with us, either way I am staying with you. I have a guard standing by too.” He says in a very husky tone and damn it; I’m feeling butterflies in my stomach at the sound of his voice as he keeps stepping towards me. His scent is making me dizzy and I feel like I’m swaying.
I keep stepping back until my back hits the wall. I gulp and feel my cheeks redden. Jaxon grabs my waist and steadies me. He comes close to my ear, and I can feel his beard tickle my skin, “So are we staying or going?” He whispers as he pulls back and stares at me intensely with his blue eyes.
