The Jilted Alpha (Jaxon and Sable) novel Chapter 26

Jaxon POV

The last rogue is still alive but withering in pain. Sable pulls shift and I sucked in a breath. Holy Moon Goddess. She is perfect. Every part of her body is sculpted to perfection. Before I can get carried away with my thoughts, she moves past me and lifts the rouge up and slams him against a tree. Okay, I’m starting to see why she is a lead warrior.

“Why did you want me, specifically? Who sent you?”

The rogue starts laughing, “You’re special, Sable. Someone is very interested in adding you to their collection.”

I snarl at hearing this asshole.

“I will make your death painful, unless you give me a name.” Sable says, looking at the rogue with an eerie calm.

“Do your worst, bitch.” He laughs again.

She stays there staring at him and then he starts to choke and gasp for air. I look at Sable and she isn’t breaking eye contact with this guy. “A name.” she says once again.

He’s shaking his head, “I…I…I don..don…know!”

“Then you are of no use to me.” Sable says.

I have to admit, she is a total bad ass, but scary as fuck.

“Wait!” The rogue says.

“Talk.” Sable said. The rogue is trying to breathe and suck in air. He’s panting, trying to regain his composure. Sable and I give him another moment, and then he starts speaking.

“I swear I don’t know who wants you, but we collect people on orders from an anonymous source. Money is funneled to our account and we go grab our target and take those we have captured to an undisclosed location giving at a set time. From there they are shipped off to another region. I don’t know where or who the shipment is delivered to, I swear!”

Fuck. This is the lead I have been searching for ever since Jake told me about the disappearances of the women and men in the smaller packs.

“When will you get a call for the drop off location?” I ask.

“We get them once a week. Tomorrow night around eight, we get the call.”

Right as we are finishing up the conversation, Matt arrives with the two guards I called for, when I found out Sable was surrounded by rogues. “You’re late. Take this guy to the dungeons. I’ll fill you in later.”

“Okay, um, Alpha.” Matt says pointing behind me.

I turn around and see Sable walking in the opposite direction and away from me. Fuck. Yeah, she’s still mad.

“Burn the bodies. I need to go talk to her.”

“Now we’re mates? For the last two days, we haven’t been mates. I’ve been an outcast by myself. At least in my old pack, on the rare occasions I was injured, I had friends and people that wanted to be around me. My ‘mate’ can’t be bothered to even check in with the doctor.” She bit back.

“I’m sorry. I really am. It wasn’t my intention not to visit or check in on you. I was truly wrapped up in something big. Please forgive me.” I say as I take another step towards her.

“I’m leaving. It’s for the best.” She says, stepping back and trying to walk around me, but I snake my arm around her and hold her close. I hear her heart start racing. I know I affect her. I also know I hurt her.

“Unintentional or not, I should have been more mindful. I’m sorry I wasn’t. I don’t want you to leave. I had a room prepared for you and had I not been wrapped up on the mission I’m on, I would have brought you back myself and showed you your room. Please stay.” I say sincerely to her.

Her cheeks are flushing and I sense Nia is probably talking to her. I think I’ve convinced her. So I lower my mouth to her ear, “Please stay here with me.” I whisper.

I feel her spine shiver. “Fine.” She whispers.

I smile against her neck as I inhale her intoxicating scent. I pull her chin up to look me in the eyes, “Thank you.” I can’t help myself. I want to kiss her plump lips. So I lower my mouth to hers and kiss her softly. I hear a little gasp and I don’t waste any time deepening the kiss.

I feel her nervously move her arms around my neck. I growl approvingly. I can tell this is her first kiss. It’s mine. Something very possessive in me doesn’t want her to kiss anyone else but me. I move one hand to the back of her hair and gently pull her head back. I’m rewarded with a small moan. Hearing her like this makes something inside of me feel extremely satisfied.

I break the kiss and I can smell her arousal and her heartbeat racing. Her lips are swollen and her eyes look glassy with desire. She looks breathtaking. I hold her hand and start walking back with her, “Let’s go to the pack house. I’ll show you around, once we put your stuff down.”

She smiles shyly, “Okay. I’d like that.”
