The Jilted Alpha (Jaxon and Sable) novel Chapter 36

Jaxon POV

I know I shouldn’t be upset. I know she doesn’t know. I know that I’m being completely irrational and acting like an emotional female, but I can’t help it. I’m laying down on my bed and thinking about when Sable said her ‘dreams are better than reality’ after coming in her wet dream. I took it personally.

I got a flashback of what Giselle said about me and then to me. She had said I wasn’t a good lover. I treated her like the woman I loved, because I did. I loved her and I made love to her. I never wanted to be too rough. I never wanted to hurt her. I cherished her and I wanted her to feel good when we made love. She wasn’t just a fuck to get out of my system like I have treated other women.

I’ve kissed Sable twice and both times, I thought she enjoyed it. Both times, her cheeks were flushed and she was speechless. The second time, I heard her moans and gasps, and it made me feel good that my mate was affected by me and wanted me. I enjoyed looking at her large hazel eyes full of desire. When she said that to me though, it crushed something in me.

‘When are you going to tell her about our past, Jaxon?’ Drax asked quietly. I think he understands how I’m feeling, so for once, he isn’t making snarky comments to me.

‘I don’t know. How do you tell someone about a past like ours?’

‘I don’t think she meant it the way you are thinking. Haven’t you noticed whenever she is embarrassed, the first thing she does is say something smart?’ Drax says to me, and it makes me think.

He’s right. Every time she is getting embarrassed but doesn’t want to look like she is backing down, she makes some snide remark. Maybe that is all this was. To be honest, I’m scared to find out. What if she meant it? What if she was faking it and didn’t think our kisses were anything special?

‘Admit it. You’ve developed feelings for her. That’s why you are scared to find out the truth.’ Drax said.

I reflect on what my wolf is telling me. Sable has only been here for a little over a week. She drives me insane. She’s stubborn, tough, shy, admired, funny, beautiful, loyal from what I’ve seen, and – Drax is right, I’ve developed feelings for her, despite my best efforts.

‘She is everything Giselle wasn’t and more. Please Jaxon. Let’s give her a chance. I want our mates. They should be in our bed, not at the end of the hall, far away from us.’

I look at the empty space on my bed. I can picture her there, beside me and sleeping with me. Waking up to her sleepy eyes and plump lips sounds really nice. I have to admit to myself that I have developed feelings for her. What I didn’t want to have happened has happened. I didn’t want a mate, but I got one; and now I have feelings for her.

I’m still not ready to mark her. That will still take time, but as much as a mess as my head is right now, I want to try. There’s something I never thought I would say. I actually want to try. Tomorrow, at breakfast, I will introduce her formally to the pack and then I will talk about logistics for the move from Dark Flame to Winter Moon. Then I will show her around. Maybe we can train and then have dinner together? I don’t know. I think I’m getting ahead of myself.

‘No. You are thinking like a mate now. Keep that shit up.’ Drax says, and I can feel his amusement.

‘I can try Drax. I’m just worried about history repeating itself. Let’s go to bed before I overthink things. Good night.’

The next morning, I wake up and shower. I’m going to go into this positively. I decided to mind link Sable and see if she was awake.

‘Sable? Are you awake?’

‘Yeah. Good morning. What’s up?’ Her tone seems indifferent. Maybe she is upset over last night.

‘I was wondering if you would like to come down with me for breakfast this morning.’

I don’t want to tell her everything, but I need to be truthful. So, I said as much as I could without giving anything away, “When you said your dreams were better than reality, I figured you didn’t like the way I kissed you.”

Her eyes widened and then I saw her amused. “That’s why you left?” She started laughing. Actually, laughing. But then, she put her arms around my neck, “I was being a smartass. I’m sorry you took it that way. For the record, I enjoyed every second of you kissing me.”

Something inside of me relaxed when she said that last part. Then another part of me became full of lust. I crashed my lips down on hers and she submitted to me willingly. So, I pulled her closer to me, and I heard her moan, and I growled in response. I love the taste of her on my lips. But I still have things to do with her, so I reluctantly pull my mouth away from her and rest my forehead on hers.

“Why don’t we get cleaned up? I still need to introduce you to the pack before breakfast is over. Then we need to go over the details of the move.” I say smiling at her.

She is looking at me like she is still dazed by what just happened. This time, I know that she enjoyed it. I smell her arousal too. Yeah, she isn’t lying.

“Um, okay. Good. Let’s go.” I reach my hand out to her and she takes it. I lead us back to the pack house and then instead of letting her go to her room, I lead her to my room instead. “It’ll be quicker in my room.” I say.

“Maybe, but all my stuff is in my room.” She says pulling back a little, but I’m not letting her out of my grasp.

“Okay, then come in and let me grab some clothes.” I say pulling her in and I see she is nervous. “I won’t bite Sable. I’m just grabbing clothes, and they we will shower in your room.”

“What?” Her eyes widen again. I like seeing her cheeks flush. “You want us to shower together?”
