Sable POV
I need air. I kept myself composed in Jaxon’s office, but honestly, I am feeling a barrage of different emotions. I feel wronged. I get he has emotional baggage, but I paid for her mistakes. How is that fair to me?
I’m not petty or selfish, to not understand his position. I understand how hurt he must have felt by his first love leaving him because he didn’t have a wealthy pack. If he would have just been forthcoming in the beginning, I would have understood and navigated our bond differently.
‘Sable, there is more, but Drax says it’s Jaxon’s story to tell. He did say that a lot of other gaps will be filled in later, but hopes we will have patience with him, because today was really hard for him to talk about.’
‘Was it any less hard to hear and realize that we are being treated unfairly because of another woman?’
I have to admit, I’m hurt. I think about my parents and their bond. I really wanted something pure and real when I met my mate. Honestly, I always feel like I’m in the dark when it comes to Jaxon.
‘Nia, what do we do? I wish my mom was here. I would ask her for advice.’
‘What about the journals she left us? One each year for the first three years, remember?”
‘I forgot all about those! Yes! Let’s go back to the pack house and find them. It should still be in my duffel bag.’
I make my way to the pack house and up the stairs to the alpha floor. I see the maids moving my belongings. “Um, what is going on, here? Why are you moving my things?”
“Oh, Luna! Alpha Jaxon said we were to move your things to the Luna suite, next to his room.”
“Are you serious?” I asked shocked.
“Yes, Luna. He said you were not ready to move into the main room with him, but he wanted you to have a room fit for a proper Luna.” She said smiling.
I stand there, dumbstruck. He didn’t ask me if I was okay with moving to the Luna suite. He just did it.
‘He wants us close to him without disrespecting our wishes to not move in yet.’ Nia said, ‘I would let this one rest, Sable.’
‘Fine.’ I said exasperated.
“Um, where is my duffel bag?” I ask the maid.
“Hey.” I said back. “Um, thank you for the room or rooms. This is very nice.”
“I know you didn’t want to move with me, yet; but you are the future Luna and this suite is what you deserve. Not the room at the other end of the hall. You should have never been there.” He says and his eyes look contrite, like he is doing this to right the wrong.
“I appreciate it, Jaxon. Thank you.” I said and then to bring a lighter note to the conversation, “The balcony is lovey. My rocking chair and side table I have at the cottage will fit perfectly there.”
“Do you use your rocking chair often?” He asks, and he looks genuinely interested.
“Yes, I used it every night. I miss my routine.”
“Feel free to change whatever you want. Don’t worry about the cost. I want you to feel comfortable in here.” He said.
“Thank you.”
“What’s that in your hand? A diary?” He said smirking.
