"Why is she burning up..."
Gideon's voice trembled violently.
Dr. Scott and the assistant rushed into the bedroom with their medical kit, operating in a state of frantic urgency.
Gideon sat on the edge of the bed, gripping Nora's hand tightly, his eyes webbed with terrifying red veins.
"Mr. Hayes, please step aside. We need to check her temperature and administer fever-reducing treatment immediately."
The doctor took out an ear thermometer and took a reading from Nora's ear.
"A hundred and three point six."
Dr. Scott stared at the numbers on the screen, his face turning incredibly grave.
"The typhoon passing last night gave Mrs. Hayes a terrible fright. Combined with her being drenched in the freezing rain, the cold has permeated her body, triggering an acute high fever. Her physical constitution is already frail; a fever this high could easily lead to severe complications."
The doctor quickly took out fever-reducing medication and a syringe from his kit.
"We need to give her a fever-reducing injection immediately. Our equipment here is limited, so we have to get this fever down right now, or the consequences could be disastrous."
As the needle pierced her vein, Nora felt the sting through her unconsciousness, and her brows twisted together in pain.
A weak, muffled groan slipped from her throat as she instinctively tried to pull her hand back.
Gideon immediately stepped forward, leaned down, and gently embraced her.
"Shh, be good, don't move."
"It'll just pinch for a second, and then it'll be over. You're the best, Nora. Once the shot is done, it won't hurt anymore."
Once Dr. Scott finished the basic cooling treatment and examinations, he waved his hand, dismissing everyone from the room.
Gideon walked into the en-suite bathroom and brought out a basin of warm water.
He soaked a soft towel in the water, wrung it out, folded it neatly, and gently laid it across Nora's scorching forehead.
The man's movements were practiced and exceptionally gentle, carrying an almost instinctive patience, as if he had performed these exact motions hundreds of times in the past.
He leaned over, looking at Nora's tightly furrowed brows caused by the intense heat.
Her skin was scorching, her eyes closed, and her face still bore a sickly flush beneath the medication's effects.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
