The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 558

"Then let's open for business."

Nora took the shears, walked over to the flower stands, and started trimming the stems that had been damaged by the storm.

As evening approached, a black Bentley slowly pulled up under the trees directly across from the shop.

The car door opened, and Liam walked in, carrying several exquisite, temperature-controlled food containers.

"Ma'am."

Liam stood respectfully by the register. "Mr. Hayes was worried you'd be too busy to eat dinner, so he specifically had the chef prepare a few dishes and send them over."

Nora set down her spray bottle, her expression frigid. "Take it back. I'm not eating it."

Liam looked conflicted. Instead of taking the containers back immediately, he stood there and lowered his voice.

"Mr. Hayes... his wound started bleeding again this afternoon. The doctor changed his dressings, but he refused to stay in bed. He's been sitting in the car waiting for you this whole time."

Nora glanced through the half-open glass door.

In the shadows across the street, the back window of the Bentley was rolled halfway down.

Gideon sat in the back seat, wearing a loose black turtleneck sweater that completely hid his heavy bandages.

Even from across the street, his eyes were locked unblinkingly onto her. Seeing her look over, he didn't look away. Instead, he offered a faint smile, as if trying to prove he was perfectly fine.

Nora let out a cold scoff, retracted her gaze, and turned back to Liam.

"If he wants to sit in the car, let him sit. Even if he bleeds to death out there, it has absolutely nothing to do with me."

Liam opened his mouth to speak but ultimately sighed, gently placing the food containers on the coffee table nearby.

"I'll just leave the food here. Please have at least a few bites."

Liam walked out of the flower shop and returned to the car across the street.
