The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 67

Nora was just about to follow Julian to the waiting car when her wrist was suddenly seized from behind.

The grip was brutal, sending a sharp ache through her bones. She instinctively struggled and whipped around, her gaze colliding with a pair of furiously dark eyes.

Gideon.

The harsh glow of the streetlamp illuminated his face, highlighting the rigid, sharp lines of his jaw. His gaze was icy and lethal, locked dead onto the blazer draped over her shoulders.

Nora's heart gave a violent lurch, her alcohol-fogged brain pausing for a brief second.

She hadn't anticipated him being here at all.

"Mrs. Hayes."

Gideon's voice was terrifyingly low. "Your little tricks are getting better by the day."

The color drained from Nora's face. She opened her mouth to argue but couldn't even find the words to begin.

Julian stopped and turned to face Gideon. Without a hint of panic, his expression remained perfectly composed, his calm gaze meeting the other man's furious glare.

Neither man spoke, the tension in the air snapping like a live wire.

Gideon couldn't be bothered to waste his breath on Julian. Tightening his grip on Nora's wrist, he yanked her forcefully against his chest.

"Gideon! What the hell is wrong with you? Let me go!"

She stumbled against him, the buzz from the alcohol instantly fading into shock. Desperately prying at his iron grip, her voice trembled with terror and rage.

He completely ignored her protests. Bending down, he swept one arm under her knees and the other around her waist, effortlessly hoisting her over his broad shoulder.

The sudden loss of gravity tore a sharp gasp from her lips.

The oversized blazer slipped from her shoulders, landing in a crumpled heap on the dusty concrete steps.
