“Not to mention that Gavino had to dig for this information,” Massimo added. “It pisses me off.”
“Should we try to get closer?” Luca offered. “You probably won’t be able to get inside, but with how quiet the place has been, I might be-
Massimo straightened his spine. “Repeat that,” he ordered.
“Pardon?” Luca asked. “I was just asking if we should try to get a look inside.”
“Not that,” Massimo replied harshly. “The part about it being quiet.”
Luca looked through what he had already recorded of the new Morello estate. “No one has been spotted the whole day–longer than that, if Gavino’s contacts are to be believed.”
Massimo cursed.
Logically, Tyler might not have returned straight home after visiting New York. The snake could very easily be trying to make sure no one followed him.
But Massimo had a feeling Tyler was missing for a much more sinister reason.
“Turn the car around,” Massimo ordered. “We’re going back home.”
At the Vitale estate, Elena thoughtlessly followed her step–mother into the living room. It was oddly quiet.
“Let’s go upstairs to my room,” Alessia suggested.
“Okay.”
Once they were in the master bedroom, Alessia guided Elena to lay down on the bed.
“Forgive me if this is rude,” Alessia began, “but I have to know, Elena. Are you still a virgin?”
“Yes,” Elena immediately replied.
“Oh thank god,” Alessia said, clutching her chest. “Sorry, but your father and I worked too hard for you to immediately spread your legs to the first man who asked.”
Alessia put her hand on Elena’s shoulder. “Would you mind if I just checked real quick? It won’t take more than a moment.”
“Okay,” Elena said.
“Excellent!” Alessia clapped her hands together. “Now just stay still…”
Elena obeyed as her step–mother removed her clothes. Elena stayed perfectly still as her step–mother ensured the cherry between her legs was still intact.
“That’s so great,” Alessia said once she was finished. “I mean, you didn’t even have a proper wedding! Wouldn’t you have liked to have me and your father there–wouldn’t you have liked to wear my wedding dress?”
“Yes,” Elena replied.

Alessia smiled. “Of course you would! How about we make up for bout tiene, Elena? You can try on my did gran and we can pretend together.”
Again, Elena obediently obeyed as her step–mother guided her into a wedding dress. If Elena was in her right mind, she would’ve noticed her step–mother’s ‘old gown‘ was a new, gaudy wedding dress–and something far too expensive for the Vitales to afford these days.
But Elena wasn’t in her right mind. She didn’t even notice that the dress was perfectly tailored to her.
Her step–mother let out a squeak of joy, “You look beautiful, Elena.”
Suddenly, Alessia pulled out her phone.
“Why don’t we take a video, too?” she suggested, “Now, Elena, you stay right there…”
Massimo was annoyed with how slow Luca was driving. They were already back in the state of New York, but Massimo wouldn’t be happy until they were home.
Then Massimo’s phone began to buzz..
“There better be a good reason you’re calling me, prosecutor,” Massimo said gruffly into the phone.
“My cop friends found something you’ll want to see,” Joshua replied. “Meet me at this address.”
Massimo sighed as Joshua hung up. But he did give Luca the new destination.
“Glad you could make it, Massimo,” Joshua greeted.
“Would’ve preferred to meet at my estate,” Massimo replied.
Joshua smiled bitterly. “Unfortunately the item of interest is still evidence, so I’m lucky I could get it sent to these law offices, honestly. It shouldn’t be seen at a don’s house.”
Joshua gestured to a box on the table. It was addressed to Massimo.
“The sender’s name and address are fake,” Joshua explained, “but we believe its Tyler based on the fact he’s used similar aliases before.”
Massimo opened the box. Inside was a perfect replica of the dress Elena wore to her first mafia party.
The dress she was shot in. The dress she wore when she proved her loyalty.
“Son of a bitch,” Massimo swore.
Back at the Vitale home, Alessia and Elena were making dinner. Elena thoughtlessly obeyed Alessia’s instructions. As she did, Elena caught sight of something in the kitchen window.
Several emergency vehicles were speeding by. The sight made Elena’s brain start working again. Slowly, Elena’s eyes followed the cars–to see several stacks of smoke in the distance.
