After a long moment, Elena finally nodded. "Okay," she said. "Let's try your idea."
Elena worked with her husband to barricade the apartment. Moving big piece of furniture in front of the door and window were pretty logical ideas. She had seen a lot of similar things done in movies.
She had never even thought about using lamps or speakers as weapons though. Yet Max quickly suggested doing just that.
"It should be pretty disorienting," Max explained. "So let's move this speaker over here."
Elena was surprised by how crafty Max was. "If you say so, Max," she replied, helping him move more furniture.
It was then that Elena recalled her conversation with Mr Fabio and that Max wasn't even her husband's name. Had he needed to change it because of some trouble in his past? Was that why he seemingly had experience fighting and dealing with criminals trying to kill him?
"You're pretty resourceful, Max," Elena said innocently. "I can see why your grandfather called you a troublemaker."
Max huffed out a grin as he kept at his work. Elena decided she might as well bring up her question now.
"That reminds me," Elena continued. "Mr Fabio told me your name isn't Max. Is that true?"
Max took out his phone and started syncing his device to one of the nearby speakers. "It is," he replied, without looking up.
"I wish you had said something about this earlier," Elena said. "I can't believe I've been calling you the wrong name this whole time!"
"I don't mind," Max replied quickly. He finished working on his phone and shoved it into his pocket. "It's a nice nickname."
Elena was sure to catch his gaze. His green eyes didn't give anything away.
"Do I get to know your real name?" she asked. "Is it even close to Max? Or have you just been letting me call you a completely wrong name this entire time?"
