For the next five minutes, the only sound was that of Luca vigorously striking keys. Then he muttered a quick, "Yes!" and smiled. He turned the screen so that Massimo could better see it.
"We're in," Luca reported. "Only temporarily, of course—we've got fifteen minutes maximum."
Massimo scanned the files, pointing out which ones for Luca to inspect. He might not have encountered the FBI before, but they had similar enough methods to cops—and Massimo was plenty familiar with those idiots.
"It looks like they didn't have the location of The Tunnels," Massimo thought aloud, "or even know that we use it as a torture and dump sight. Rather, it looks like they followed some of my subordinates from when they left that shitty apartment."
"That tracks," Luca said. "There were plenty of reports about fighting going on there. Even if the local cops ignored those calls, the FBI would have access to them."
"The one warrant they have is too specific," Massimo observed. "So they couldn't enter the premises."
"It's a good thing The Tunnels aren't owned under your family name," Luca remarked.
Massimo clicked his tongue. "Neither was the apartment complex Elena and I were at, yet it seems like those foolish cops were able to figure out we owned the shell company behind it."
Luca frowned as he scanned through the date. "I could send a cleanup crew to the premises—"
"Don't bother," Massimo said coldly. "You and I both know it's much too late for that. And it looks like they're finally sending a local cop car over, too."
"I could get the car delayed?" Luca offered.
"Too risky," Massimo immediately shot down. "Let's just hope that they don't find anything damning there."
