Luca only took a few minutes to pick Massimo up from the diner. "You said you got what we needed?" Luca asked.
Massimo uncurled his fist to reveal a key. "You'd think with the amount of time that man spends around crooks and criminals that he'd be able to recognize a lift," he remarked idly.
"But you're sure that's the key to the local police station?" Luca pressed. "That man visits a lot of different cities across New York. Or it could be a spare key to his office building."
"Those would've been on his key ring," Massimo argued. "Besides, look closer."
Massimo tossed the key to Luca. Engraved at the top of it was the local police station's address. Luca smiled.
"We know those FBI agents took over that building from the information we got from the Abanos and Grassos," Massimo reiterated. "With that key, we can more easily break in and see what dirt those pigs really have on my family."
"We should head in in the evening," Luca suggested. "They have less people there during the night shift. Hopefully that means we'll be able to go in and out without raising any alarms."
"Hopefully," Massimo repeated. "It's still not going to be without its risks."
Luca nodded. "I can be prepared to sneak in tonight," he stated calmly.
Massimo raised an eyebrow. "You want to go into that vipers' nest?"
"Like you said, it's risky," Luca said. "We can do everything right and still get caught. If the FBI catches someone sneaking around their investigation, they'll come down on them hard—life imprisonment would be lenient sentence in that case."
Massimo could understand Luca's reasoning. He wasn't wrong—failure in this circumstance would be disastrous. He was sure plenty of dons would've refused to enter a police station themselves under normal circumstances.
But Massimo wasn't just any don. He was the Don of All Dons.
"I think I will, too," Noah added.
Elena merely nodded along and wished them a good night. It was clear Sloane was still frustrated about Cameron's arrival this morning and his insistence for a family outing tomorrow. Elena suspected the two adults had a lot to talk about concerning Noah's older brother.
But it wasn't really her place to question them, so Elena merely took care of all the leftovers and trash and then got ready for bed herself.
Still, Elena couldn't help thinking about this situation. Even after she had showered and gotten into her pajamas, she wondered how big of a deal this was.
Noah and Sloane had seemed like the picture-perfect couple back in New York. They were so in-sync and incredibly in love. But were things less perfect than they let on?
Elena sighed. She needed to take her mind off this—again, it wasn't her place to question her mother's new relationship. Elena picked up her personal phone and decided to text her best friend Aria.
