The Mafia King's Unknown Doctor Wife novel Chapter 41

Chapter 41

A wife who he was growing increasingly unhappy with. Massimo found he approached each new date with Aria with the same grim attitude he approached mafia business leals with. It seemed the more time he spent out with Aria, the more he treated her like a simple obligation instead of the woman he was supposed to love and cherish.

How was the date?his secondin-command asks.

Massimo doesn’t remember when Luca entered his office. When he got home, he thought he should start on some nonessential mafia work, but he ended up just staring at his phone for the past half hour.

Fine,Massimo replied shortly.

Are you waiting for any important messages?Luca asked

No,Massimo hissed out. Just a text from my wife.

Weren’t you just with her, sir?

Massimo felt his frustrations of the day grow and swell. He would normally tell Luca off, give him a task to get our of his space, and then continue fuming. But he hesitated.

Elena had somehow had keen insight into his love life. And Massimo couldn’t ask Elena follow up questions now- not when he was determined to keep his feelings about her buried until they died out. That left only his secondin -command and his grandfather to talk to about such a delicate manner.

Massimo sighed. Luca would surely be better than getting advice from Fabio.

She’s just so different when she texts,he explains. That’s the side of her I know better, and when I see her in person, it’s like none of the traits I enjoy are present.

Sounds like someone is more fond of online dating than he thought,Luca teased.

Massimo glared. Luca, finally sensing that Massimo was not in the mood for jokes, feigned a cough before straightening his posture.

This isn’t really my area of expertise, Don Massimo,Luca confessed, but my suggestion would be that you tell your wife this. If you’re upset she’s not texting you as much as she once did, you can just tell her that you would like it if you both texted more.

Massimo considered Luca’s words. He had agreed to a lunch date tomorrow at some upscale tea parlorhe could

tell his wife then.

We should text more,Massimo said bluntly after their tea and accompanying sandwiches and pastries had been served. He found in business deals it was better to be direct and marriage, at its core, was still a business deal.

Text more?” Aria repeated, seemingly confused.

You used to text me much more frequently. Several times day in fact. I missI would prefer if we resume that arrangement.

Aria stared at him blankly. For a moment, Massimo worried that his wife had forgotten all about her habit of texting Massimo about her day and her fleeting thoughts. Aria certainly did seem surprised at Massimo’s mention of the texts.

But then she smiled brightly and laughed. Right, those texs, she said simply. To be honest, I thought I was coming off as annoying, but if that’s not the case-

It isn’t,Massimo interjected swiftly.
