Chapter 62
“Still, it can’t be comfortable to ride the bus in this,” Elena insisted. “I feel like I’d accidentally flash the other riders.”
“Good for them,” Aria teased. “But don’t worry–I have other options.”
Then Aria had Elena try on very tight pants. They had more coverage, but they didn’t leav lower region to the imagination.

“Don’t you have any dresses I could borrow?” Elena finally asked.
“Of course! Why didn’t you say so, El?”
Aria started with the most complicated dresses Elena had ever seen. Some Elena had to wrap around her upper body like scarves, which made Elena nervous that they would stay up.
Elena checked her phone–it was already noon. She would need to leave in an hour if she wanted to make it to her lunch date on time.
“I can’t believe I still haven’t found an outfit,” Elena lamented.

“I know, it’s just that I wanted to pick out a gift for both Mr. Fabio and my husband,” Elena explained. “And there’s no way I’ll have time for that if I’m leaving in an hour.”
Aria snapped her fingers. “I’ve got it! I’ll go make some cookies–you can’t ever go wrong with homemade baked good. You figure out what you want to wear.”
Elena was touched by Aria’s generosity. “Really? You can make cookies in under an hour?”
“No sweat,” Aria said. She was already leaving her room. “If you change your mind about the lingerie, it’s in the bottom dresser drawer.”
Elena laughed softly. Aria really was a great friend.
Elena searched through Aria’s clothing for something both trendy and suitable to Elena’s tastes. A lot of it was more revealing than Elena could stomach.
In the very back, Elena found the perfect dress–not too short but not too long either. It was like E! pink dress but a little darker and more mature. And way more expensive looking.
“You’re perfect,” Elena breathed. “Why were you hiding all the way back there?”
Elena tried on the dress–it fit her like a glove.
Just then, Elena heard a yell from the kitchen. She hurried out to see Aria clutching one hand.

Elena could instantly tell Aria’s hand was burned–badly at that. She needed to get Aria to a hospital right now.
“I’m sorry,” Aria gasped out. “I, I should be f–fine.”
“Don’t be silly, you need a doctor right now,” Elena insisted.
“I’m sorry you’re going to miss your date,” Aria apologized from her hospital bed.

They were still waiting on a doctor, but the nurse had given them a room. Elena checked her phone—it was one forty–five.
She put her phone back in her pocket. “I can still make it,” Elena said confidently.
“Still,” Aria said miserably, “I’m so sorry. I was just trying to help.”
Elena leaned over her friend and carefully gave her a hug–careful to miss Aria’s burn said. “Really, this sort of thing can happen to anyone.”

The last thing Elena wanted was Aria feeling guilty. Aria suddenly cleared her throat awkwardly.
“Do you mind getting me a glass of water?” Aria asked.
“No problem.”
Elena was so focused on helping her friend that she didn’t notice Aria had pick–pocketed her phone.
