The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 67

Audrey immediately tried to wrench herself out of his grip. "What I do is none of your business!"

"Isn't it?" Joaquin's fingers locked around her wrist like a steel vice, trapping her against his side. "Have you completely forgotten who you are?"

The young dancer stepped forward, his expression hardening. "Hey, man, back off. Do I need to call the cops?"

Joaquin shot him a look so lethally cold it could have frozen blood. "Get lost."

The sheer, suffocating authority rolling off the billionaire made the younger man instinctively take a step back, but he kept his eyes on Audrey. "Are you okay? Do you want me to get security?"

Knowing she couldn't overpower Joaquin and refusing to cause a pathetic public spectacle, Audrey forced a calm smile at the dancer. "It's fine. Don't call anyone. He's just my ex-husband."

"Ex-husband?" Joaquin's grip tightened painfully, his fury radiating in waves. "I haven't signed those papers, Audrey. That means absolutely nothing!"

"You'll sign them eventually." She met his furious gaze with a look of total apathy. "Let's go. If you want to throw a tantrum, we can do it outside. Unless you want us trending on the front page tomorrow? I'm sure it would be terrible for Rainey's reputation if people started calling her a homewrecker again."

A muscle feathered in Joaquin's jaw. Without another word, he practically dragged her off the stage.

"Hey, gorgeous!" the dancer called out from behind them, watching her get pulled away. "Are you coming back?"

He hadn't met a woman who could match his energy like that in a long time.

Audrey let out a breathy laugh, intentionally pitching her voice loud enough for Joaquin to hear. "Of course. As soon as I finish dealing with my ex, I'll come right back to you."

Joaquin's face turned a dangerous shade of purple. He hauled her out the back exit, shoved her roughly into the backseat of his SUV, and locked the doors.
