The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 97

Audrey didn't step inside. Instead, she coldly held her hand out toward him. "This rundown complex isn't fit for someone of your status. Give me my keys back. You can return to your precious Rainey now."

Taking in her icy glare, Joaquin actually smirked. "Slumming it in a place with terrible security isn't so bad once in a while."

He shot her a casual glance. "If you're not going in, I'll go up myself."

Seeing that he absolutely wasn't joking, Audrey rolled her eyes, brushed past him, and marched into the building.

Joaquin followed right behind her. They walked down the cramped, dimly lit hallway in silence, took the elevator up, and stopped in front of her apartment.

Once Joaquin unlocked the door, Audrey held her hand out again. "Keys. Now."

Instead of handing them over, Joaquin smoothly dropped them into his coat pocket. "You must have a spare. These are mine now."

Audrey's brow furrowed. "Why do you need the keys to my apartment?"

"What do you think?" Joaquin stepped past her, unapologetically flipping on the lights. He critically surveyed the modest, somewhat bare furnishings.

"Your fingerprints and facial scan are in Judd Manor's security system. You have full access to my home. So, it's only fair I have a key to yours. Now we're even."

Audrey shut the door behind him and tossed her pharmacy bag onto the coffee table. "You can call your security team and have my access deleted right now."

That house was supposed to be his and Rainey's anyway. The day she moved out, she had no intention of ever going back.
