The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

I feigned a smile, walking down to where Kaia and Theo were.

They were smooching each other, and I was fighting the urge to rip Kaia’s hair out, seeing how she held on to

him.

But I swallowed my rage; I had to keep myself under control.

“Good afternoon, Alpha Theo”, I greeted, bowing a little.

Both Theo and Kaia stopped to look at me. They looked surprised.

“Good afternoon, Lady Kaia”, I muttered. I was cringing inside.

“Good afternoon,” Kaia replied while Theo stood there silently. “How may I help you, Elara?”

“Umm,” I mouthed. “I was wondering if I could talk to you for a bit”, I said, and Kaia tilted her head.

Without saying a word to me, Theo whispered something to Kaia and turned to leave.

“I will catch you later, honey”, he kissed her cheeks and then left.

After that, Kaia started walking ahead, and I followed her.

“So tell me,” Kaia urged. “How may I help you today?”

I took a deep breath and calmed myself down.

“Lady Kaia,” I cleared my throat. “I haven’t really had the chance to properly thank you for saving my life the other night”

Kaia nodded and smiled at me; it didn’t reach her eyes, but I wasn’t expecting anything less.

“If you didn’t come that night, I wouldn’t have made it through the night,” I said, and Kaia nodded. “Thank you for saving my life”

“That was nothing to be grateful for,” Kaia waved her hand casually, smiling. “Besides, I’m a healer, and it’s my duty to save lives”

“I understand,” I said. “Still, I haven’t been good to you since we met, and you still chose to help me. You are a kind person; someone I would never measure up to”

“There is really no need to thank me like this, Elara,” Kaia said, stopping to face me.

“Please allow me, this is the least I could do to show my gratitude to you”, I dipped a hand into my pouch and pulled out something. “Here, I got you this”

Kaia looked at me, bewildered, and I could understand why she felt that way.

Chapter 120

I nudged her to collect the gift, and Kaia reluctantly took it from me. She loo

“This, you -“she looked surprised.

“I made them myself,” I smiled, explaining. “When I heard you and Theo were expecting, I couldn’t think of a good gift to give you. So, I knitted the socks instead. I hope you don’t mind?”

Kaia held the gift and smiled.

“Of course not, I don’t mind, she said. “Thank you for the gift, it’s beautiful”

“I’m glad you like it,” I breathed, as if I was tensed.

Kaia couldn’t stop looking at the gift, and I knew I warmed her heart. It was a good start, and I’m already making progress.

“Lady Kaia, I have been very awful to you, and I feel ashamed of myself,” I said. “I’m sorry for how I treated you before. Please find it in your heart to forgive me”

Kaia looked surprised, but she didn’t say anything.

“I realised I was fighting a lost cause, fighting for a man who doesn’t want me.” Tears flowed from my eyes. “And why would he? I left him traumatised because of my own selfish reasons, and I don’t deserve his love and forgiveness for what I did to him. However, I hope you’ll not hold my actions against me”

“I have nothing against you, Elara, and it’s not my place to speak on what’s going on between you and Theo. Go talk to him if you want his forgiveness, not me.” Kaia declared, and I knew it was a lie. “I have to go,” Kaia said. “I’m overseeing the travelling arrangements for the Nightshade pack”

“Oh, is that so?” I asked, looking around. “Would you like some help?”

“There is no need, it’s almost done”, Kaia said and tried to leave.

“No, I insist,” I said, stopping her. “I want to do something to help. If you don’t allow me, I would feel like you haven’t forgiven me. Please give me a chance to prove that I’m not the same person that I used to be”

Kaia stopped and stared at me for a minute; things were running through her mind, masking her expression.

“Alright, if you insist. I presume we could use some help,” Kaia said. “Come with me”

“Thank you for giving me a chance, Lady Kaia”, I said and walked after her. She nodded. “Have you which games you’ll join in this tournament?”

I tried to initiate a conversation and not leave things awkward between us.

“I’m not sure I’m allowed to play any games while pregnant,” Kaia mouthed and rubbed her flat belly. “I will confirm with the doctor first, then I will decide whether I will join a game or not”

“Oh, that’s so true. You’re in your early state, you should be cautious,” I advised, and she agreed with a fake

“What about you? Have you decided yet?” Kaia asked me, and I nodded.

“Since my mate wouldn’t be in town for the tournament, I had to change my plans”, I breathed. “I loved cheerleading when I was younger,” I revealed. “Maybe I could join the cheerleading team for the pack”

“That sounds like fun, you should totally go do it”, Kaia urged, and I smiled.

She was warm and accepting towards me, and I knew that if I pushed a little harder, she would let me into her

space.

I learnt the hard way that I should keep my enemy closer and my friend close.

“The staff are loading the truck, see if there is anything you can help them with”, Kaia said, and I smiled, the smile didn’t touch my eyes. “I will go ahead, see you later”

“Sure, I will see you later”, I said.

She waved at me and left.

I watched her leave, staring until she disappeared from my line of sight.

Once I get closer, I will steal Theo right from under her nose.

I smirked and walked over to the staff, then began helping them with the work.

I was determined to make them see how genuinely I was, and during this trip, they would let their guard down, and I would strike.

I worked under the hot sun for hours, and when we were finally done, my body was in so much pain that I could feel my soul leaving my body.

Writhing in pain, I struggled to walk back to my room.

I bumped into Cara, and she looked mortified.

“What the hell happened to you?” She asked, rushing to hold me. “Dear, you look horrible. You look like you got hit by a truck”

“I just paid the price for what had to be done”, I mutter, holding my waist. “I will be fine”

Cara didn’t understand what I meant, and I wasn’t in the mood to explain things further.

I walked past her groggily until I got to my room.

My attendant was at the door to help me walk in, and when I was seated down, she brought me massage oil and did the needful.
