The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 163

Chapter 163

–Draven-

“There is a lead, Draven, I’m coming over right now”, Rylan said through the mindlink.

“I’m in the office waiting for you. Come soon,” I said, and the mindlink closed.

I sat in my chair, clutching my aching temple.

I had been under a lot of stress lately, trying to figure out what happened to the grain and what Theo’s story about it meant.

On top of that, it was ‘Theo’s wedding today, but I couldn’t go because of everything that was happening.

I had sent him a gift through one of my men; hopefully, he didn’t take my absence to heart.

Once everything is settled, I will see him in person to congratulate him and his mate.

I had to keep him around if I wanted to move my pack further.

Just then, I heard a knock, and Rabiya walked in, smiling.

“Oh, there you are, brother!” she excitedly said. “I have been looking all over for you,”

“I’ve been here the entire time, working on a few things,” I said and invited her to sit. “Do you need anything?”

“I don’t need anything, Draven,” she looked at me with happiness, and my heart leapt. “I have everything I need, so there is no need to worry. I came to look for you because I was bored chatting with those dumb bimbos without Liora,” she huffed, literally irritated.

“Why? I thought you liked those girls?” I pried, and she wrinkled her nose.

“Eww, no! I was bored in my room, and Liora suggested I chat with them; she thought they would make good jesters and keep me entertained.” g She winked sheepishly. “I guess she wasn’t wrong, they kept me laughing for hours, my cheeks hurt, and I had to excuse myself”

I chuckled at her cute expression when she narrated the story.

“Im glad you are having fun,” I said, pinching her soft cheeks.

I felt like we were little kids again, and I was teasing her by pinching her cheeks.

Rabiya stood up and walked around the place.

“You know,” she said, turning to me slightly. “I haven’t really had a tour of your office since I got here. Can I have a look around?”

“Of course!” I said, egging her on.

She excitedly clapped and began looking around.

I sat in my chair and watched her look through the attic pieces on the shelf. Then, she moved to the books and weapons.

She picked up a dagger carelessly.

“Hey, be careful with that,” I hopped to my feet and dashed to her side, afraid she would hurt herself. “That’s very sharp, don’t play with it.”

I took it from her.

“I only wanted to have a look, it’s no big deal, Draven. Relax, I’m not going to hurt myself. You pouted.

“I know, I’m sorry,” I said. “This dagger was given to me by Alpha Theo as a sign of our alliance. It

I saw her eyes widen, but she didn’t say whatever was on her mind, and I wonder why.

“I see, you and Alpha Theo are really deep in your alliance”, she muttered and looked away.

“You can say that,” I mouthed and stuffed the dagger away.

I sat down back when Rabiya suddenly pulled the curtain, and a lot of items fell out, crashing on the floor.

“Oh, stupid me!” she slapped her palm on her head. “I wasn’t looking when I pulled the curtains by mistake,” she explained and crashed down to pick up the items.

“Come on, you don’t have to apologise, I know you didn’t mean it”, I said and got up to help pick up the items.

We joined hands to pick up the things on the floor. And just when everything was almost over, Rabiya’s eyes fell on a frame, and she grabbed it.

She stared at it for a moment. I didn’t have to look at it to know what she was staring at.

I balled my fists and looked away, not wanting to look at the photo.

“W-who is this? And why is this photo here?” she turned to me and asked.

“It’s a nobody,” I casually said and tried to snatch the frame from her.

“I’m serious, Draven, who is this woman? And why do you have a photo of her in your office?” she adamantly asked.

Disgusted, I clenched my fists, trying to stop myself from exploding. I was boiling with anger.

“That whore is a bitch!” I screamed, and Rabiya flinched, taken aback.

“I don’t understand. What do you mean?” she asked.

My emotions were tumoring over, but I couldn’t leave her in the dark without giving her answers.

“That’s Kaia Nightshade,” I said, feeling suffocated. “My ex-Luna”, I sneered, my voice dripping with disdain.

“What are you saying, Draven?” Her face froze with shock. “That’s not possible, right?”

“It’s the truth,” I said. “I’m sorry I didnt tell you sooner. Kaia was my wife until she betrayed me when she tried to kill Liora and my baby.

Remember that girl who topped the warrior academy results, and her father favoured her? She’s the same girl”

Rabiya gasped, covering her mouth.

“Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed, clutching her chest. “I should have made the connection a long time ago

I frowned, confused by what she was saying.

“What are you talking about, Rabiya?” I asked. “What do you mean by that?”

“Theo’s mate, remember I asked if you had met her before?” she asked, and I nodded. “She’s

“No, that’s not possible”, I said in disbelief, “Kaia was exiled. How could she have met Theo other”

My emotions were wreaking havoc within me.

“Believe it or not, but I know what I saw,” Rabiya insisted, and I knew there was an atom of truth to what she was saying. “I know what I saw, and the girl in the photo is the same as Theo’s mate. Go confirm for yourself if you must”

Saying that, Rabiya grabbed her phone, dialling seriously as she walked out of my office,

“She wasn’t telling the truth, roght?” I asked myself. “There is no way Kais could be Theo’s mate. My little must be a mistake,” I said, trying to convince myself.

I was going to let it go, but on second thought, I decided to check things out for myself.

I will confirm Rabiya’s information; only then will I be fully at peace.

I tried to call Theo, but I backed out at the last minute.

It was his wedding day; it wouldn’t be right to call and disturb him at this hour.

I paced around in my office in frustration, trying to get Rabiya’s words out of my head.

Then I knocked on Rylan’s door and let him inside.

Rylan was holding a stack of papers; there were a lot of them.

“What are these?” I asked, pointing at it.

“The private investigator we hired found something, and it’s not very good”, Ryla said, and I knitted my brows.

“What did he find?” I asked and picked a paper to skim.

“We look into all the ranked people as you instructed, and -” he hesitated.

“And what did you find?” I asked, seeing he hesitated.

Rylan looked as if he wasn’t sure if he was allowed to say it, and that made me curious even more.

“And I found this,” he took out a paper and gave it to me.

I took it and read through it; my eyes widened as I went along.

“What is this?” I flipped it away from my face and asked. “What is the meaning of this?”

“Elder Norman seemed to be pretty involved in the incident at the barn house. I found links connecting him to some of the boys we caught. Recently, he had been travelling out of the pack too. We believe that if we question the boys, we would know exactly what’s going on.” Rylan said. “And as for Luna Liora, she had been -”

Before Rylan could finish his words, I slammed my fists against the table, vibrating with aura.

“Not a single word against my Luna. Don’t you dare,” I yelled, warning him.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, it wasn’t my intention to offend you. I was reporting my findings as you requested,” Rylan wasn’t buying it.

“Just shut up, I’m not in the mood for this nonsense,” I said and turned away. “One more thing.

question the boys silently”

“I will do just that, Alpha”, Rylan said and walked out.

When he was gone, I felt my head spinning for no reason. And suddenly, I felt ashamed of myself for how I behaved with my beta.

I had no idea what came over me just now.

My head was all over the place, and I couldn’t understand anything.

The only thing ringing in my head was Rabiya’s words, and I was determined to prove her wrong.

I would go to Shadowclaw by myself and meet Theo’s mate in person.

He is my friend and ally; he wouldn’t object to a surprise from me.

“A nobody like Kaia can’t even work as Theo’s maid, talk more of being his mate. My sister is hallucinating for sure,” I said.

I linked my beta and asked him to arrange a flight for me. I would go to Shadowclaw alone, on my own.

“Let’s do this,” I said, taking a deep breath. “I can’t let that awful woman have it easy after making life miserable for my mate and me. Never, not on my watch. She deserves to live the worst life imaginable”
