Chapter 166
I was heading out to breakfast with Kaia, hand in hand, when I noticed the staff staring at us.
It was a little strange.
Our dynamics have changed since Kaia officially became the pack’s Luna.
Everyone was expected to show her respect, but they looked at her with disdain.
Kaia didn’t notice anything, and I was glad she wasn’t aware of whatever the hell was going on.
We sat at the table with Justine and Maliya to eat because Zane still hadn’t returned from picking Draven up.
He was taking a little too long.
“So, how was your night, Luna Kaia?” Justine asked, winking at my wife, teasingly.
Kaia knew what she was hinting at, and her face turned beetroot red with embarrassment. She wanted the ground to open and swallow her up.
“It was normal,” Kaia breathed. “Like every other night, nothing special happened”
I looked at her sharply, feeling a little offended.
If what we did last night wasn’t special, I have to up my game and make her feel special.
Kaia locked eyes with me, pleading with me not to take offence.
She was clearly trying to keep her friends off her back.
I wasn’t offended, just petty.
“Nothing special?” Maliya remarked. “That’s hard to believe, right, Alpha?” She asked me, and I choked on my breath.
Why is she involving me in this? Clearly, they were trying to make me spill secrets.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I bailed out, sipping my water.
Maliya and Justine exchanged looks and high-fived.
These two had us cornered, and they were enjoying our situation
“Enough teasing, girls”, Kaia came to my rescue. “I hope the Cathard family are doing okay. Did they say anything else?” She asked.
“I wouldn’t know, Kaia,” Justine frowned. “I was busy at the wedding and didn’t go see them at all”
Maliya stopped eating and cupped her chin.
“Becky and Anastasia came to ask for a job,” Maliya said. “They dn’t want to stay bored in their rooms anymore. So, they asked me for a job, and I let them join the decoration team,” Maya said.
Kaia nodded, satisfied with the gesture.
“I hope they would be able to love well while we track the progres of the attack and fish out the people behind it,” Kaia said,
and I nodded.

Please give them a tangible job,” Kaia instructed. “Once I settle in, I will have a word with the women in the house. A lot has to change around here, starting with the women’s role in this pack
“I will do just that,” Maliya said.
We ate in silence.
Just then, my phone buzzed.
“Hello,” I picked up. “Is it done?”
“Yes, I got him settled at the hotel. He will come to the mansion in the evening,” Zane said.
“Alright. Come soon,” I said and ended the call.
“He’s here?” Kaia linked me.
“Yes, Zane got him settled in the hotel. He will come around to meet us in the evening,” I said to her, and she nodded.
“Alright,” she said.
After breakfast, I went out with Ronan, and we had to arrest a few people discreetly.
Ramos had helped give information about the terrorists’ movements.
Garry Walker was one of their regional leaders, and they were working to smuggle weapons into the region.
They are planning a uniform war, and my pack is one of the main targets, along with Draven’s pack.
I wonder why they are going after us when we haven’t done anything wrong.
Or maybe they have a reason to target us. I have to find out why
While leaving the beta wing, I linked Ronan to meet me by the car.
Before I got there, he was already there, waiting along with Calder, one of my trusted men.
“Alpha, do you really have to do this today?” Calder asked. “Your wedding was just last night, you should spend the day with
behalf” your Luna. We can handle it on your
I breathed, getting into the car.
“As much as the offer is tempting,” I looked at him. “I have to be here for this operation. These people are out to get me: 1 should give them a befitting reply in person”
Calder got into the car as well. Ronan was driving.
“That makes a lot of sense,” he acknowledged. ” My tip is absolutly confirmed. They are smuggling in weapons through the port as we speak”
“I know, and we have to catch and arrest every single one of the,” I instructed. “We have to make it look like a robbery, though”
He pulled out a bag.
“Don’t worry, I came prepared? Calder bragged, showing me eveything he got for the mission.
“And you, Ronan?” I turned to ask my gainma, who was driving

“The boys are ready. They are in ambush, waiting for our signal. They will enter as soon as we get them a signal,” Ronan said.
“Good,” I nodded.
I was nervous, but I had to do this for all ou. sake. We can’t live in fear of these people attacking us when we least expect it. They have sophisticated weapons; it would be easy for them to attack and subsequently destroy us.
After half an hour’s drive, we stopped on a nearby road leading to the port and parked the car in the bush.
Then, we trekked through the bush.
We arrived at the port shortly, and from the bush where we were standing, we saw a few men offloading carts. Which I believe were used to transport the weapons.
We watched them work for a while, and when they were about to finish up, I gave the signal.
My men wore masks; they had already masked their scents with anti-werewolf perfume, and they burst through the port.
Shocked, the men tried to fight back, but my men subdued them and clamped silvers on their wrists.
We arrested only two men and let the others escape. They left, leaving their weapons behind, and that was more than enough.
We loaded the men we arrested onto the jeep, and my men handled the seized weapons, taking them to the forest house.
I would personally set it ablaze and watch it burn to the ground. They would never be able to hurt my people with those
weapons.
By the time we got back to the house, it was 6pm already.
Getting out of the jeep, we dragged the men to a safe house and chained them to the ceiling.
Their eyes were covered with cloth; they still couldn’t tell who we were, and it was a big surprise when they finally saw us.
When we rounded them up, I was tired and needed to quench my thirst.
I returned to the house, and it seemed like something had happened.
The house was packed with people; I didn’t invite anyone, and there was no reason for a crowd to gather there at this hour.
I pushed through the crowd because I didn’t want to alert them; wanted to see for myself what was going on.
Finally, I managed to get closer to the centre, and there I saw Cara viciously questioning someone.
“Tell us, Kaia,” she mouthed. “Was this your plan all along? Lying to us to become Luna when you are already married to another man?” She asked, and my jaw dropped.
What? What the hell is she talking about?
Without wasting time, I quickly pushed through the crowd.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Cara asked. “When I called ya climber, they thought I was blutting. Now, can everyone see who this whore truly is?”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Cara”, Kaia muttered softly
“Oh, there is more?” Cara mockingly asked. “Go on, tell us how you’ve been juggling two men. You climbed your way into becoming the Shadowclaw pack Luna, when you had already be married before”

“I wasn’t married,” Kaia retorted.
“Oh, can you explain this photo then?” Cara pulled the photo out showed it to Kaia, then to the crowd.
“It’s not what it looks like,” she managed to say.
“Then tell us – Elara chimed in.
Before I cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
“What’s going on here?” I asked. “Kaia, your Luna, show some respect!”
I was vibrating with rage, and they felt it.
Elara scoffed and walked closer until she was standing directly in front of me.
“Luna?” she asked. “I doubt you’ll still call her Luna once you find out what’s going on. Kaia is not a Luna, she’s a fucking liar!”
“Watch your dirty little mouth,” I shrieked, quivering with rage. “Don’t talk about her like that”
“If she didn’t want us to talk about her like that, she wouldn’t have acted the way she did,” Cara menacingly spat.
She lifted the photo in her hand and shoved it close to my face.
In the photo, Kaia was in her full Luna regalia, and Draven was with her; they looked happy and smiling at each other.
I immediately got what was going on. Cara was vicious. I can’t believe she would do this.
“Your precious Luna Kaia was mated before, not only that, she was a freaking Luna”, Elara shouted in my face. “And she was Alpha Draven’s Luna at that. Do you know what that means?”
She chuckled viciously at me.
“Let’s even talk about why she is here,” Cara said. “Why would a una leave her pack to come live here and seduce you into making her your Luna as well?”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about?” I mouthed, glancing at my wife, who looked like she was about to cry.
I pushed Elara away and rushed to Kaia, pulling her into my arms.
“Kaia is only my Luna, nobody else’s. Whatever ideas you might have in your heads about her, I don’t care, and I don’t want to hear it,” I spat, seething with annoyance.
They had the nerve to call a crowd on my mate while I was out working.
This is respectful, and I would not take it.
“Unfortunately, that’s not up to you, dear son”, Cara said. I felt my blood boiling when I heard what she called me. “According to the law, an Alpha of our pack is not allowed to marry a woman who has been a Luna before. Especially if that woman is from a rival pack”
Cara stopped talking and looked at the crowd to get her messageCTOS
She wanted them to revolt against me,
“And since you have made that mistake, you can’t continue to be Alpha!” She declared.
Kaia stopped crying, and I stood in front of Cara, cackling.

“I didn’t know you were this funny, stepmother,” I said and shut her up. “When were Draven and my pack ever rivals? And who says I can’t mate a rejected she-wolf?” I asked.
“The law says so,” she grimly answered. “Sh
5 another man’s Luna; she can’t be trusted!”
“Kaia is her own person, not another man’s Luna. And last time checked, she wasn’t Luna when she came here. She was the pack’s outcast Luna”
