Chapter 167
–Kaia–
I was chatting with my friends after Theo left for work.
We finished friends and checked on the Charthard family to make sure everything was alright.
After that, I took some time off to verify some paperwork I had to prepare for the women in the packhouse.
By the time I was done, I was too tired to do anything else.
I dusted my legs and took a nap.
When I woke up, it was in the evening.
I took a shower and invited Justine and Maliya to come to the alpha wing for a cup of tea.
They arrived sooner than I expected, as if they had been waiting for my signal all along.
“Were you two expecting my message or what?” I teased them when they arrived together.

“I was bored alone in my room,” Justine whined. “If my mate were here, I would have gotten fucked until my head rolled to the back. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened”
Maliya cringed.
“Cut it out, Justine,” Maliya scolded. “You’re so disgusting!”
“What?” Justine asked. “Don’t you like getting fucked? I mean, I can’t blame you, you are single as fuck”
Maliya shook her head, clearly defeated by Justine’s words.
Justine was going through it, and I secretly hoped everything would end soon so that Zane would spend all his time with her.
She needed him now more than ever.
“Hey, what about Ronan, don’t you like him?” I asked, and Maliy blushed.
“Don’t bring him up, please”, she pleaded.
“Why not? He’s hot, and he likes you” Justine jumped in.
“I don’t want to get my heart broken again,” Maliya muttered, looking down. “Once is okay. Now, I will only date when I find my mate. Otherwise, I will stay the way I am”
“You got your heart broken?” Justine was sympathetic. “Who’s that bastard who did that to you? Tell me, I will make them wish they were dead,” she gritted, her blood boiling with rage.
“Don’t get too worked up, babe,” Maliya cupped her hand. “It was a year ago when it happened. I’m trying to move on now” “Will you tell us what happened?” I asked softly. “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it”
Maliya’s eyes looked distant, and we watched her, waiting for he to say anything
“He was my first boyfriend,” she began. “Last year, I caught him bed with someone. He tried to excuse his actions with the fact that I didn’t have his time and wasn’t fucking him”

“What an arsehole,” I spat, disgusted.

“That dirty street dog. I will pull out his hair and make him chew on it”, Justine threatens, and I knew he would do it if she got her hands on the fuck boy.
“Your whole family was depending on you, and he was worried about you not spending time with him?” I asked, feeling my rage rise. “He should be ashamed of himself. I’m glad he’s no longer in your life; he wasn’t good for you”
“I agree,” Justine sided with me. “He’s a selfish prick. If I were you. I wouldn’t cry over a whore like you. You did yourself a favour by getting rid of him earlier”
I nodded, agreeing with Justine. I looked at Maliya as well.
It felt as if she had gotten over it, but she was still scared of opening her heart up to another man.
She was scared something like this would happen again.
I felt the same way, too, but opening my heart to Theo was the best thing I’ve ever done.
“Look,” I took her hand, squeezing it. “Please don’t let what happened stop you from finding love again”, I encouraged.
I turned to Justine, who was nodding in agreement.
Just then, the maid arrived with our tea and snacks.
“Here is your tea, Luna Kaia”, she respectfully said and placed it on the table.
“Thank you, Catherine”
She was about to go when a glimmer of thought popped into my head.
“Ummm, Catherine, I’m sorry that I have to ask you to do this, but will you please taste the tea and snacks first?”
I had to do this from now on, especially with the threat to my life; I can’t risk my baby.
“Sure, My Luna”, Catherine said.
She poured the tea, drank from it, and then ate the biscuits.
I let her stand there for a couple of minutes, and when nothing happened, I allowed her to go.
Once she left, Justine tilted her head questioningly at me.
“Since when did we start having the maids taste the food?” She asked.
“Since we found out that there’s a threat to our lives,” I said, pouing a cup. “These people are dangerously sneaky. Who knows if they have eyes and ears in the mansion? We need to tread carefully”
“I didn’t think of that,” Justine admired. “I will be careful from now on”
We quietly drank the tea for a while.
“So, as I was saying, Maliya,” I resumed, setting my cup down. “u don’t have to shut yourself out because of the moron. Give yourself another chance to love again.
Look at me, someone once badly hurt me to the point of

“But hey, I’m not asking you to do what you don’t want to do, alright”, I clarified, and she nodded.
I looked at my watch when I looked outside, and it was getting dark, and Theo wasn’t back yet.
I wonder how the operation went. I hope they didn’t run into any trouble.
“Don’t worry, they will be back soon,” Maliya said, jerking me out of my trance.
I didn’t know she could read minds now.
“No, I didn’t read your mind. Your face shows exactly what’s going on in your mind,” she said.
“Ufff, that’s a relief. I don’t want you reading all the dirty stuff that runs through my head”
We burst into laughter.
Suddenly, Cara and Elara burst into the beta wing with a few people.
“Look at her having fun after deceiving us,” Cara spat.
“What the hell are you going on about?” Justine irritably asked.
“Show this whore her place!” She grabbed me forcefully, and I tried to free myself.
But Elara joined hands and dragged me out of the alpha wing to the Centre of the house.
Justine and Maliya tried to stop them, but the people who came with Cara overpowered them.
I was shocked to see so many people in front of the mansion. What was going on?
Before I could gather my thoughts, Cara shoved me.

“Tell us, Kaia,” Cara said, shoving. “Was this your plan all along? To get into Theo’s bed and become Luna when you’re already married to another man?”
She dropped the bombshell on me, and I immediately started piecing everything together.
They found my real identity, and they were using us against me for their personal gain.
“You don’t know what you are talking about,” I managed to say. “I’m not married”
Before I knew it, she pulled out a photo of Draven and me. I was wearing my Silvermoon Luna regalia.
There was no doubt that was the only confirmation needed, and they had it.
“It’s not what it looks like,” I said.
“Then, tell us -” Elara urged.
However, before I could gather my words, Theo interrupted.
“What’s going on here?” He asked, “Kaia is your Luma, show som respect”
Elara scoffed and stood in front of him.
“If you find out what she has done, you wouldn’t call her your La anymore,” she replied menacingly. “Kaia is not a Luna,
she’s a liar!”
Theo was seething; it took everything for him to hold himself hk from slapping the dirty smirk off her face.

“Watch your mouth,” he warned.
Cara wasn’t having it and jumped in, siding with Elara to villainise me.
“If Kaia didn’t want to be talked about this way, she wouldn’t have done what she did”, Cara insisted.
She flung the photo in front of Theo’s face; he didn’t look surprised.

“Look, your precious Luna has been mated before,” Cara smugly said. “According to the law, she can’t be a Luna of our pac
“Says who?” Theo asked.
“Says the law,” she replied. “She’s another man’s Luna; she can’t be trusted”
“Kaia is her own person,” Theo angrily retorted. “Not an extension of another man. And the last time I checked, she wasn’t Luna when she came here. She was the pack’s outcast Luna”
The crowd gasped when Theo said that. I knew he didn’t mean to say it, but it happened.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Elara asked.
That witch wanted to see me fall, and she would grasp onto anything that might help.
”
“What I meant was that Kaia has no connection with her old pack. Especially not with her alpha –”
“Because I was exiled from my old pack when my mate rejected me”, I said.
I couldn’t keep Theo in a tight spot any longer.
Murmurs burst through the crowd, and I wouldn’t blame them.
I would be in shock, too, if the Luna of my pack turned out to be an outcast.
“Why were you exiled?” Someone in the crowd shouted, and I couldn’t hold back my tears.
“Yes, tell us! You can’t continue to keep us in the dark anymore; we are not going to take this”
When I looked back, my friends were in shock. They must have felt betrayed by me.
I wouldn’t blame them if they never forgive me for keeping such a big secret from them.
“Now, what?” Cara folded her arms and asked. “Will you do the right thing and step down as an alpha? Or do we have to go legal over this as well?”
“Do whatever you want, Cara”, Theo angrily spat. “But I’m not stopping down as Alpha. It’s not up for debate, and don’t push me too hard, you’ll regret it”
“In case you forgot, as an alpha, you have to lead by example”, Cara lectured. “Clearly, you are not upholding the law of the pack; you shouldn’t be Alpha.”
“I would like to see you use the law to fight me,” Theo dared, and Cara’s eyes widened in surprise. “I will be waiting for you”
When I looked towards the door, I saw someone walking toward us, and my heart sank.
A tear dropped from my eyes, and my whole body felt like it had been crushed.
The only thing I could think to do at that moment was run, and I ran
I was panting, but I didn’t stop, and my tears kept flowing down well.
