The same men who had confidently called me unfit suddenly couldn’t look me in the eye anymore.
They lowered their heads, avoiding Theo’s eyes.
Because they clearly know that they have done wrong, and Theo would never let it go.
Theo let the silence stretch, and the councillors squirmed in their seats.
“Should I assume,” Theo said slowly, “that the council, the highest legal authority in this region, hasn’t read its own recent amendments?”
A few elders lowered their heads.
“Or worse,” he continued, his voice dropping to a soft, lethal calm, “were you hoping Kaia wouldn’t know? Hoping I wouldn’t know? And you could weaponise a law that no longer exists to shame her?”
A murmur rippled through them. Someone flinched.
One elder, the same one who had first objected, found his courage and stepped forward.
“This… this is highly irregular,” he stammered. “These updated laws, when were they made? We never—”

“You never checked,” he cut in. “That is your mistake. Not mine, councillor.”
Theo then moved to me, placing a steady hand at the small of my back. We locked eyes, and he smiled protectively at me.
“She is my Luna,” Theo uttered. “Blessed by the Moon Goddess. My wolf recognised her, and her wolf recognised me as well. And unless you can quote an existing law that forbids it-” he let his eyes sweep the room, daring anyone to speak.
“I will expect you to treat her with the respect owed to that title.”
A deep, tense silence followed.
The head councillor cleared his throat, still staring at the updated text like it personally betrayed him.
“We… we must verify the authenticity of these revisions,” he said voice trembling.
“Go ahead,” Theo replied. “They were approved by the High Council two years ago. The same High Council you serve under.”
Gasps broke across the room.
They all knew what that meant; disobeying these revisions would mean challenging the High Council’s authority.
And no one survived that,
Suddenly, the tone shifted.
“I-I see no issue with Lady Kaia remaining as Luna during investigations,” one elder said quickly.
“Yes, of course,” another agreed. “Innocent until proven guilty.”
“We must proceed with fairness,” added a third, his forehead now drenched with sweat,
I smirked, looking at them from where I was standing.

Chapter 176
I was proud of Theo, proud of him taking charge as the alpha that he is.
Now they wanted to speak of fairness.
Theo stayed quiet beside me, but I was sure he could feel my prile rising as I stared at him.
He squeezed my hand once subtly.
It was a way to reassure me of my place; he was claiming me in font of everyone.
Then Theo turned back to the councillors.

“Good,” I said. “Because let me be clear, if anyone even breathes lisrespect toward my mate again, I will consider it a direct challenge against my leadership and my pack.”
A charged stillness filled the chamber.
No one dared challenge him any more; they seemed to have learnt their lessons.
When Theo stood by my side, holding a hand behind my back, knew he was telling the council to back off.
He exhaled sharply and said, “Now that we’ve cleared the lies you tried to pass off as law. Can we continue? Let’s get to the real reason she was summoned.”
Finally, the council breathed.
The council spokesperson, Garry Walker, cleared his throat and picked up the parchment.
“This summons concerns the circumstances surrounding Luna Raia’s banishment from the-”
“From the Silvermoon pack,” Theo finished for him. “Yes. That’s what we’re here for. Not your personal vendetta against her”
Another elder bristled. “Alpha Theo, you will not dictate how this council runs-”
“I will absolutely dictate when it comes to my Luna.” His voice dropped in a deadly calm. “You’ve wasted half the meeting insulting an innocent woman. Now you’ll do your job.”
I swallowed, my heart pounding hard against my chest, but I kept my chin up.
Theo’s presence beside me was a wall of strength. I had never been defended like this in my entire life.
“The allegations against you are grave, and it would absolutely affect the future of this pack, and that was why we invited you here today, Lady Kaia.”
Garry continued stiffly, “According to the records, Kaia was banished from Silvermoon because she allegedly attempted to murder the Alpha consort, Liora Bourne”
Theo’s laugh was sharp and humourless. “Allegedly?, By whose testimony?”
“By Luna Liora’s, the rogues who were hired by her, a few pack members and the healer who was working with Kaia at the time.”
“Of course,” Theo folded his arms. “Then ask the actual questions properly.”
Garry adjusted his glasses, visibly annoyed.
“Kaia Nightshade, were you or were you not accused by Liora of threat, sabotage, and endangering a ranked wolf?”

I inhaled. “Yes. I was accused.”
“And did you commit any of these acts?”
“No,” I answered.
Another elder leaned in. “And do you have proof that you did not?”
My jaw clenched.

“I wasn’t allowed to defend myself. I was only given a hearing without a defence. I wasn’t even told the full accusation before the decree was made.”
The elders exchanged looks.
stepped forward once. The temperature in the room shifted.
“Ask her why Silvermoon was so eager to throw her out,” he said coldly.
Garry straightened. “Kaia, why do you believe the Silvermoon Alpha and elders accepted Liora’s accusations without investigation?”
I hesitated.
Theo touched her elbow lightly, nodding at me to answer.
I exhaled shakily.
“Because,” I took a quick breath. “Because she was pregnant with the Alpha’s heir, and she claimed I was jealous of her because I couldn’t conceive. And when my mate, Draven, asked me to give up my position as Luna to allow him to make Liora the new Luna, I refused, and he took that as a motive. Liora was everything I wasn’t. And when Liora accused me,” my voice faltered. “He believed her, and he blamed me.
“The Alpha believed her?”
“Everyone did.”
“And did you, at any point, attempt to harm the Alpha Consort?”
“No.”
“She is telling the truth,” he said. “And since you claim to value justice so much, you will treat her answers as valid until proven otherwise.”
Garry’s jaw tightened. “Lady Kaia, were you aware that your banishment violated three Silvermoon charter laws?”
I blinked. “What?”
Another elder added, “Banishment without a proper trial. Banishment without being proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and banishment without the approval of the full council.”
My breath hitched.
Silvermoon had broken the law to get rid of me. I sneered, shaking my head in despair.
“There,” he said softly, “Now we’re finally talking,”
I had never felt smaller and yet never more seen at the same time.

“Continue,” Theo urged. “And be thorough with it because the truth is about to come out, and this time, Kaia will not be the one buried. It will bury Silvermoon.”
“We obtained a few documents during the course of our investigation,” Councillor Daisy said. “And I believe it would be useful in this case”.
Saying this, she stood up and shared a copy of the document with the council members.
I looked at her with shock. She was the last person I thought would help my case.
The elders flipped through the documents again, murmuring under their breaths.
Councilman Marcus cleared his throat.
“Lady Kaia, our records show you were mated to Alpha Draven of Silvermoon, and your banishment followed accusations made by his fiancée, Liora.”
My stomach clenched.
Councilwoman Daisy added, “There is no signed decree from Silvermoon’s council approving your banishment. There was no official voting to decide your fate”
I looked up, stunned.
“So,” I stuttered, “they didn’t even follow procedure?”
Theo scoffed under his breath, a sharp sound of disgust.
“They didn’t follow anything. They threw you out like trash.”
I swallowed.
“Liora accused me of trying to kill her,” tears choked my throat. She accused me of hiring rogues to kill her,” my voice cracked.
“She said I was jealous because Draven rejected me.”
The elders exchanged uncomfortable glances.
Councilman Marcus leaned forward, brows drawn.
“But Silvermoon provided no evidence for any of these claims-only a few unreliable witnesses. And Luna Liora’s injury is evidence. These are not circumstantial evidence”
I blinked hard, my throat tight with pain.
“I knew from the beginning that I knew she framed me, but nobody believed me”
Theo stepped closer, his jaw flexing; he was seething with deadly rage.
“Say it plainly. She was banished because Draven cheated and needed an excuse to replace her.”
The elders didn’t deny it.
I exhaled shakily, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Draven betrayed me. He had been with Liora for months, and everyone knew except me.”
