Chapter 177
—Theo–
By the time we arrived home, Kaia looked exhausted.
I picked her up from the car and took her to our room in a Princess style.

When I dropped her on the bed, Kaia didn’t look happy. Ify felt as if fear had struck her, and it would take a while to calm her down.
“Hey,” I murmured, cupping her face as I steadied her. “Breathe, Blue Eyes. It’s over.”
But the moment I said that, it looked as if the truth of everything hit her at once.
The shame, every lie that’s been told against her.
Moments she had spent doubting herself, she must have thought she was the problem at some point.
Draven had threatened to replace her in the past. After suffering loads of humiliation, everything must have messed with her mind.
It hurt me to see her like that, so I balled my fists subtly.
And now, when I was supposed to make sure that she didn’t have to go through that same pain again, I failed to do so.
I watched the council call her awful names in an attempt to humiliate her, and I can never forgive myself or everyone involved in doing that to her.
My throat tightened when I saw tears rolling down her cheeks while she tried to stop them.
I pulled her into my chest instantly.
She didn’t sob loudly, but I knew she was hurting and was in grave pain.
Her crying was quiet, violent shaking —the kind that comes from too many wounds stitched together by willpower.
“They believed her,” she whispered into my shirt.
“Draven believed her. His whole pack believed her. And today-bday they looked at me like I was filth all over again.”
I wrapped my arms around her even tighter.
“They don’t matter anymore. Silvermoon and everything from your past don’t matter anymore, they are nothing but a god- forsaken-dumpster,” I said, my voice dropping with disdain.
I tilted her chin up so she had to meet my eyes.
“You’re mine now. And nobody, nobody gets to break y

A tear slid down her cheek, and I wiped it with my thumb.

“I should be happy,” she murmured. “I was clear0

“You’re traumatised,” I finished gently. “You lived through hell. I doesn’t disappear just because someone finally admits they were wrong.”
She swallowed hard. “I really… I really thought the council would strip my title. That they’d-”

“You earned your place in this pack, Kaia. You earned my respec And the next person who calls you a whore in front of me
My jaw clenched, dangerously. “I’ll have their head.”
A tiny laugh escaped her at how serious I looked, even though tears still clung to her lashes.
“Don’t joke,” she said weakly.
“I’m not joking, blue eyes”
I pulled her into me again, my chin resting on her hair.
“You’re safe,” he whispered. “With me always. You’ve been cleared of all charges, and you’ll remain the Luna of this pack, as you had been rightfully ordained, and I’ll be right here to support you”
Slowly, as if her bones were finally remembering how to function, she relaxed.
She took a breath, and the knot in her chest finally loosened.
However, she was trembling; she didn’t notice, but I did.
I held her hand until she stopped trembling. Her head was leaning on my chest, and I let her breathe until she was ready to
move away.
After a while, she breathed and smiled at me, breaking the hug.
When she finally pulled back, I kissed her forehead gently.
“My life is incomplete without you,” I said softly. “So, don’t ever think that I’ll leave you alone, I will be with you, always”, I assured her, and she nodded.
“What would I have done without you?” Kaia asked with her shaky voice.
“Nothing, because I will always stand by you forever”, I said, and kissed her knuckles.
She beamed at me, and I hugged her.
Kaia was too tired to do anything. So, I help her bathe and get ready for a nap.
It was afternoon, and it was quite hot. She needed a cold bath before napping to help her sleep better.
I stayed with her until Kaia was finally fast asleep.
Her breathing was soft, steady, but her face still looked fragile,
She’d been through enough in one day for something that shoul be split into ten lifetimes.
I got up, and I remembered that Cara was one of the people res onsible for everything Kaia was going through, and I wasn’t going to let her off that easily,
I saw Cara in the courtroom, smirking and hoping Kaia
convicted and unseated as a Luna.
She had a blast while Kaia was being humiliated. I saw her face, and my eyes weren’t lying to me.
I stepped out quietly, closing the door behind me.

I didn’t even make it halfway down the hall before I caught the scent of cheap perfume and arrogance.
It was her, that vile woman, Cara.
She and my father were in the sitting room, whispering about the court summons like it was a spectacle.
Perfect, I came at the right moment.
I walked in.
She turned with that fake, sugary expression. “Alpha! We were just-”
“Shut up.”
Her smile cracked immediately.
Kingsley straightened. “Theo, what is the meaning of—”
“You,” I snapped at Cara, “open your mouth one more time, and will rip your tongue out.”
She swallowed hard, stepping back.
Kingsley moved protectively in front of her.

“Theo, control yourself. She was only trying to see how you are doing. You’ve had a bad day in court, she doesn’t mean any harm”
“That woman,” I said, pointing at her with shaking fury, “has been poisoning this pack since the day you dragged her into our lives.”
Cara gasped. “Dragged? Your father chose me as his mate”
“I wasn’t talking to you.” I shifted my glare to Kingsley. “I was talking to the man who ruined everything.”
His face went stiff. “Theo, don’t talk like that”
“You think I didn’t know?” My voice rose. “You think I didn’t see the way she slithered her way into our home? How she tried to replace my mother!
Cara paled, obviously annoyed by my statement, but I didn’t care.
This awful woman deserves to be out of her place.
Kingsley’s voice was tight. “Theo, that’s enough, son. Let’s talk about this calmly.”
“No.” I stepped closer. “You stood there today, I’m talking to you Council King Kingsley, and let Kaia be insulted. You let the council tear into her because of your gossiping pet snake.”
Cara stuttered, “I-I never
”
“Lie again,” I snarled, “and I’ll break your jaw.”
Kingsley grabbed my arm. “That’s enough, Alpha or not, she is your mother-”
“She is not my mother!” The words tore out of me before I could stop them. “She will never be.”
Kingsley looked at me in shock; he flinched in fear,
Cara’s eyes brimmed with tears. Another of her fake tears, I didn’t care,

“I haven’t even started,” I warned, looking at them disdainfully.

“You want the truth?” I said slowly. “I blame you. I blame the day I decided to give you a second chance, hoping you wouldn’t be the same person, but I was wrong.
Auntie Morgana was right about you all along. You’re a spineless man.”
“Everything is your fault. Everything!”
Kingsley stiffened. “What do you mean?”
“I blame you for bringing her into our home.”
My voice dropped to a dangerous whisper.
“For replacing my mother before her body was even cold.”
His face was drained of colour.
“Don’t you dare -” Kingsley began.
“Did you kill her?” I demanded.
He froze in shock, looking at me with his eyes popping out.
“Is that it? Did you kill my mother so that you could bring this vile woman in as Luna?”
Cara gasped so loudly it echoed.
Kingsley staggered back as if I’d physically hit him.
“Theodore… how could you possibly say that to me?”
