The packs outcast Luna (Kaia and Theo) novel Chapter 41

Chapter 41

–Draven–

“Are you sure it’s ready?” Liora whispered into the phone.

I heard Liora slid out of bed, careful not to disturb the creaking floorboards.

She had her phone in her as she went a little distant to make a call.

“Soon,” came the reply. “Just follow the plan, Liora. Don’t make a mistake.”

Liora had no idea she woke me up when she slid out of bed. She thought I was fast asleep.

She nodded. “I won’t. Not this time.”

The bed creaked. My heart skipped.

“Honey?” Liora called out to me.

“Liora?” I groaned, waking up. “Why are you still awake?”

She froze, phone pressed to her ear. “I… I couldn’t sleep.”

“You’re up

late. Making calls at this hour?” I stood up approaching her. “Who are you talking to so late?”

She swallowed, heart hammering. “It’s… nothing. Just someone from the council checking in. About… arrangements.”

My eyes narrowed, and she knew I didn’t buy it.

I can almost tell when she isn’t telling the truth.

“You never call the council at midnight,” I said, stepping closer. “Something’s wrong.Tell me if something happened”

She forced a laugh, soft and airy. “You worry too much.”

“Maybe,” I said, my tone dangerously quiet. “But if you’re hiding anything from me, Liora…” my gaze stayed glued to her. “…I will find out.”

She quickly ended the call, slipping the phone under her pillow. “There. Nothing to find out, Draven.”

She didn’t leave. Instead, she turned her back to me, staring out the window.

“Are you doubting me,Draven?” Liora asked, her voice cracking. “If you have something against me. Why don’t you ask me directly?”

Liora looked at me, hurt in her eyes. “Suspecting me is hurting my feelings. If you have questions, just ask me. Stop doubting my intentions”

Chapter 41

Tears streaked Liora’s face.

Great. I managed to upset her too.

:

“I-I didn’t mean it that way,” I stuttered. “I was just worried something happened to you”

I moved closer and pulled her into my arms, hugging her face.

“Shh,” I patted her back. “Don’t cry,it’s not good for you and the pup”

After a while, Liora calmed down and went back to sleep.

I wanted to forget what I heard but I couldn’t shake off the thought that Liora might be hiding something from me.

I covered Liora with a duvet and left our bedroom.

Walking out, I mindlink my beta.

Once the mindlink connected, I felt conflicted.

After a long pause, I muttered, “Rowan.”

“Yes, Alpha?” Beta Rowan replied, quiet and alert.

“I think she’s hiding something,” I said, turning to look at our bedroom door.”Keep an eye on her. From tonight….I want to know what she’s up to.”

“Yes, Alpha.” Rowan replied.

After that, I cut the mindlink and tried to calm myself.

I didn’t speak again, but I could feel my gaze lingering, like a storm waiting to break.

Maybe Liora is not in danger. It can’t be.

She’s the Luna of Silvermoon. Who would dare to go after her?

I climbed back into bed, feigning sleep, heart hammering.

I knew I’d have to be more careful if I wanted to find out the truth.

Because if Liora discovered I was looking into her, she would be worried.

And I don’t want that.

***

I sat behind the wheel, driving out.

Rowan, my Beta, sat beside me, quiet but alert.

“I think she’s hiding something,” I said, voice clipped. “I saw it last night. The way she slipped out of bed… the phone call. I don’t know what’s going on but I’m sure she isn’t telling me the whole truth”

Rowan shifted uneasily. “Alpha… She’s been compliant. She hasn’t given us reason to doubt her loyalty publicly.”

My lips pressed into a thin line. “Loyalty isn’t just obedience, Rowan. It’s transparent. And transparency? Liora hasn’t shown me

“What if it isn’t what you’re thinking, Alpha?” Rowan asked.

“Thinking? I don’t have anything in mind” I replied. I stopped the car abruptly. “I want someone on her.Follow her discreetly and watch her every movements.”

Rowan nodded, hesitant. “You want me to assign a spy to shadow her?”

“Yes. But subtle. She mustn’t know.” My gaze was sharp. “No one should suspect me.

I started the car again, looking out the window.

“No one should suspect Silvermoon’s Alpha is watching his Luna…. I don’t want any scandal. I just want to get to the bottom of this”

Rowan’s voice was low. “You’re asking for secrecy from the spy as well?”

I smirked coldly. “Of course. Only you and I. If she senses she’s being monitored… we lose control.”

We finally arrived at our destination.

I parked the car. Just as we were about to step out. I look at Rowan.

“And Rowan… report anything unusual immediately. No matter how small it may be”

“Yes, Alpha,” Rowan said, bowing slightly.

Two days later

Rowan entered, silent as ever, bowing slightly.

“Alpha,” he said.

I lifted my eyesfrom the papers I was studying.

“Well? What did you find?” I asked,my eyes sharp.

Rowan hesitated, choosing his words carefully.

“I kept a close watch on Luna Liora but there wasn’t anything out of the blue” Rowan said. “I’m sure she had nothing suspicious going on”

My narrowed his eyes. “Nothing? Are you sure? That phone call…”

Rowan’s voice was calm, almost reassuring.

“Yes, Alpha. I checked. It seems the call was from the Organization she’s working with for the pack’s benefit. They’re coordinating resources for an upcoming event…nothing malicious.”

I leaned back, feeling skeptical but listening. “The Organization… you’re saying she’s actually doing this for us?”

Rowan nodded. “Precisely. She’s using her contacts to strengthen Silvermoon. She’s loyal… at least from what I can tell.”

My fingers drummed against the table. “I don’t like surprises, Rowan. You understand that?”

“I do, Alpha,” Rowan said smoothly. “But I also know she’s careful. She’s not the kind to take reckless risks. If she’s truly loyal, then this Organization is exactly the tool we need, quietly, without drawing attention.”

My jaw losened.

“Fine. I’m glad, she isn’t in any danger and she’s not hiding anything from me,” I sighed. “For a moment, I thought she was keeping things from me”

“It’s a misunderstanding, Alpha” Rowan said. “Luna Liora wants the best for the Pack, she won’t do anything to jeopardize it”

“I forgot that for a second. What was I thinking?” I beat myself up in my head. “Get her some roses from me. Don’t tell her why”

Rowan bowed again. “Yes, Alpha.”

Liora is my wife now. My Luna.

I should never doubt her intentions. Not for any reason.
